POSITION SUMMARY:The Rotating Equipment Advisor is a crucial role within Marathon Petroleum, focused on enhancing the reliability and performance of rotating equipment across the facility. This position involves leading initiatives to improve maintenance procedures, developing targeted training programs for pump mechanics, and fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with various teams to ensure effective maintenance practices are upheld, resulting in optimized equipment operation and reduced downtime.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Participate in Start of Shift Safety Meetings and ensure adherence to MPC policies and practices.
+ Support the Pump Mechanic Foremen by providing field direction to pump mechanics, ensuring work completion supports reliable operation
+ Develop training objectives for the Pump Mechanic department to ensure team members possess the skills necessary for effective repairs and reliable equipment operation
+ Stay updated with all Refinery Safety Program (RSP) and Safety Procedures (SP) and communicate changes to the Pump Mechanic shop
+ Provide oversight of Pump Mechanic replacements and repairs, whether vendor-operated or performed by MPC
+ Assist in making repair decisions and defer to the Foreman if manpower and schedule are impacted
+ Identify warehouse stock items that are obsolete or need changes due to upgraded or replacement equipment
+ Collaborate with the Planner to ensure the most reliable and cost-effective repairs are made
+ Identify and coordinate through the Planner when vendor repairs are needed
+ Communicate with the Planner and work with vendors and Reliability to obtain proposals, quotes, and schedule third-party support when necessary
+ Collaborate with Reliability to review and enhance maintenance procedures and PMs
+ Analyze craft budgets to identify cost-saving opportunities
+ Understand Solomon exclusions and collaborate with Cost Control/Accounting to review all potentially excludable items
+ Review PM procedure Work Orders (WOs), sign PM procedure WOs, and complete Standard Review Evaluations (SREVs) in SAP/Prometheus
+ Update PM procedures and specification sheets based on field markups
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
+ High School Diploma or GED required (must be completed prior to start date)
+ Minimum of 5 years of experience working with pumps in refining, petrochemical, or related industrial settings required
+ Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook required
+ Valid driver’s license required
+ Leadership experience is desired
SCHEDULE:
+ Monday - Thursday, 10-hour shifts (occasional availability for on-call weekend rotations and support for Turnarounds and shutdowns)
