We’re excited to share an open Route Auditor position within the Business Optimization Team at WM in Southern California. This position is vital to our market area as it contributes to meeting municipal contract compliance and capturing revenue leakage. This role is a salaried position that completes in-person audits with adherence to all WM Safety Principles and DriveCam Program. Furthermore, this role covers all of Southern California, so travel is expected and depending on distance, overnight stay will be required. Typically, the tasks for this role need to be completed simultaneous to driver hours (as early as 4 am and as late as 7pm) and it will require riding along with drivers at times. In addition, the ideal candidate would have experience in Microsoft applications such as Excel, Outlook and Word. **Job Overview** The Route Auditor analyzes transportation routes, methods, and procedures to develop and utilize the most economically advantageous and efficient means of transportation. The Route Auditor will work out in the field interacting with drivers to verify driver sequencing and work with route managers. They will conduct audits on contractual cart counts, compliance, markings, logos, utilization (recycling, waste etc.) and other ad hoc projects as required. Must be willing to travel throughout the Market Area (Fresno County to San Diego County) as needed. Must be able to do overnight stays that could vary from a few days to a few weeks, depending on the business need. Home base will be Baldwin Park office, candidate must be able to travel to this location for training, team meetings etc. Schedule: standard business hours as per operational need, occasional holidays and Saturdays • Must have a valid driver’s license to drive WM vehicle equipped with drive Cam • Must be proficient with Excel and other WM applications to perform necessary functions of role • Must be willing to travel throughout the Market Area (Fresno County to San Diego County) as needed, along with overnight stays. **II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities** Follows WM drivers on existing routes to determine effectiveness of route sequencing and ensure proper driver procedure. While on route, identifies service increase opportunities. Shares ideas to increase route productivity while keeping service quality consistently high. Maintains time and production records. Effectively interacts and works with operations manager to ensure the most efficient, cost-effective operation of the fleet. Complies and ensures adherence to WM’s Mission to Zero standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient operations. Attends and contributes to periodic driver/safety meetings to maintain favorable working relationships among all employees and promote maximum morale, productivity, and efficiency. Updates and submits required reports in a timely manner. **III. Qualifications** The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job. Education and Experience Education: Associate's Degree (accredited), or in lieu of degree required and; High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and 2 years of relevant work experience required. Experience: No prior work experience required (in addition to education requirement). **IV. Work Environment** Office: This job primarily operates in a professional office environment and routinely requires the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copy machines, etc. The expected base pay range for this hybrid position is $68,770 - $73,000. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific salary offered to a successful candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for incentive pay.
