General Description The Route Manager will, drive, manage and direct the day to day operations of the truck hauling asphalt/millings etc. for Atlantic Coast Asphalt. Will work with Dispatcher to implement operations strategies and objectives to ensure the achievement of the department goals Key Duties + Haul and oversee hauling operations within the company. + Assist with hiring, training, developing and motivating employees toward accomplishing company goals. + Ensure that all vehicles, and equipment in trucking operations remain in safe and efficient operating conditions, as well as kept in a clean, presentable condition. + Support and enforce all company safety programs. Cooperate with the company Safety Manager and continually ensure that all company operations and activities are performed in a consistently safe manner. + Ensure that all company operations are in strict compliance with county, state, and federal regulations pertaining to the environment. + Adhere to all Federal Motor Carrier safety regulations and ensure that all company operations are in compliance with all related state and federal regulations. + Participate in the review and establishment of inter-company haul rates, back haul rate, and direct haul rates. + Other duties as assigned. Qualification Requirements General . To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each Key Duty satisfactorily. This position typically is not an entry-level job, as it requires demonstrable previous experience as a Hauling Supervisor. A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred. Must be able to understand work directions and communicate effectively with supervisors and fellow employees. Must have a minimum of two years in the hauling industry. FDOT experience is a must. Valid Florida Driver’s License Class A CDL and satisfactory driving record required. Physical Demands . The following physical demands are representative of those that must be met by a Hauling Supervisor to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. + Regularly required to sit and/or stand during a regular work shift of at least eight hours per day. + Employee is occasionally required to stoop, bend, walk, crouch, and climb. + Ability to lift, on a frequent basis, at least 25 pounds and carry up to 15 pounds. + Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. + Continuous mental attention required to complete tasks in an efficient manner. + Exposure to dust, dirt grease and noise. + Frequently walk on uneven surfaces, including natural ground and slopes in varying weather conditions. + Must be able to work a flexible schedule, based on project need(s) and demand(s). + The ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds (e.g., moving equipment, backing alarms, or other alarms, instructions/directions from supervisor and/or spotter). Work Environment . The work environment characteristics described below are representative of those that a Hauling Supervisor encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. + Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions. + Work environment periodically exposes the employees to high levels of noise, grease, hot asphalt, and dust that is typically associated with a construction site. + Employee regularly works near heavy equipment and moving machinery. + Work may involve a variety of substances commonly found on a construction site such as form oil, grease, curing compounds, gasoline, diesel fuel and asphalt.
