Job DescriptionGDIT is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Harris and Thales Radio Field Service Representative (FSR) to join our team at the Kuwait Regional Support Center (RSC). The FSR will be responsible for providing expert-level maintenance, repair, and operational support for Harris and Thales radio systems, as well as other communications equipment as required. The successful candidate will ensure that all radio systems are fully operational, properly maintained, and ready to meet mission requirements.
How the RSC Radio FSR will make an impact:
• Maintenance and Repair: Conduct diagnostics, fault isolation, and corrective maintenance on Harris and Thales radio systems, including handheld, vehicular, and manpack configurations. Perform system upgrades, software updates, and component replacements as needed.
• Preventive Maintenance: Develop and execute preventive maintenance plans to ensure radios and related communication systems are in optimal working condition, reducing the likelihood of operational failures.
• Repair Actions: Perform a range of repair actions including:
• Component-Level Repairs: Diagnose and replace faulty circuit boards, wiring, and other internal components.
• System Reconfiguration: Reconfigure radio settings and networks to accommodate mission requirements.
• Antenna System Repairs: Inspect and repair antenna systems, ensuring proper signal transmission and reception.
• Software/Firmware Updates: Apply and verify software and firmware updates to maintain system functionality and security.
• Battery Management: Perform battery replacements and manage charging systems to ensure uninterrupted power supply.
• Environmental Adaptations: Modify or enhance systems to function effectively in extreme environmental conditions.
• RMA Procedures: Coordinate with the supply chain and technical support teams to process Return Material Authorizations (RMA). Ensure all defective or malfunctioning components are returned to the manufacturer or designated repair facility with proper documentation, tracking, and within established timelines.
• Technical Support: Provide on-the-ground technical assistance and troubleshooting for end-users. Support operations by advising on the optimal use and maintenance of radio systems.
• Training: Train military and civilian personnel on the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Harris and Thales radio systems.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of all maintenance and repair activities. Generate reports on system performance, repair trends, and recommendations for improvements.
• Adaptability: Take on the maintenance and support of new types of radios and other communications equipment as they are introduced. Stay updated on the latest technologies and integrate them into existing operations.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Communications, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience with Harris and Thales radio systems. Experience with other communications equipment is a plus.
• Technical Certifications: Certifications in radio communication systems, such as Harris Certified Radio Technician (HCRT) or equivalent, are highly desirable.
• Skills:
• Proficiency in the use of diagnostic tools, oscilloscopes, multimeters, and other electronic testing equipment.
• Strong understanding of RF theory, antenna propagation, and communications protocols.
• Familiarity with software and firmware updates, including the ability to troubleshoot software-related issues.
• Ability to work in austere environments and perform repairs in the field under challenging conditions.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to train and mentor others on the use of radio systems and equipment.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Must be able to work in varied climatic conditions, including extreme heat.
• Security Clearance: Must possess or be able to obtain a Secret security clearance.
• Other: Willingness to travel within the region and potentially beyond, as required by mission needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with Return Material Authorization (RMA) processes and procedures.
• Experience with the maintenance and repair of additional communications systems beyond Harris and Thales, such as SINCGARS, PRC-117, PRC-152, and similar systems.
• Previous military experience in a related MOS/AFSC (e.g., 25U, 31P, 2E1X4) is advantageous.
