What you’ll do:

Engineer will be part of a 24/7 IT backup operations team and will be directly responsible for Backup related processes.The position involves taking a leadership role with customer teams and internal teams to resolve problems, maintain managed Rubrik backup operations and, when necessary, to return systems to operational status. The job also involves leading communication between technical teams, customer and internal organization to fulfill customer needs and accomplish customer satisfaction.Supporting and troubleshooting Rubrik backup, recovery and archiving in a large, complex and widely distributed environment.Analyzing daily backup failures, identifying root cause and resolving issues systematically to bring Backup success rate close to 100%Provide status and progress reports for Rubrik backup environment related activities and tasks on regular/periodic basis.Plan and implement best practices for backup solutions.Proactive measures to ensure adequate storage capacity is available.Create and update documentation for backup procedures, solutions, licensing and applicable project artifacts.Perform configuration changes as per design and build.Capability to upgrade Rubrik software across different versions and regular patching of Rubrik environment.Contribute to the effective and efficient handling of all levels of technical support cases from basic user questions to issues requiring more in-depth technical and problem-solving skillsIndependently diagnose and resolve problems within our sphere of the customer environmentFollow standard procedures for proper escalation of unresolved issues to the appropriate internal teamProvide advice and information to customers and partners regarding general cloud infrastructure as service offerings and best practicesResearch, troubleshoot and resolve escalated customer issuesRequires the individual to exercise excellent judgment, at a faster-than average pace, while paying extremely close attention to detail and courtesyEnsure proper recording and closure of all issuesInteract with various internal teams such as escalations, engineering and facilitate communication between customers and other teamsContribute Rubrik technical content to leading Deployment Guides, Knowledge Base, FAQ’s etc..

What you need to bring:

Professional degree or equivalent experience and 7 - 10 years related IT experience.Hands on experience, a minimum 5 years, in Operations and Support on Backup applications: Rubrik.Aptitude towards problem solving and troubleshooting skills on Tape Libraries, Library Management software, SAN connectivity, Cloud backup software etc., including log analysis.General knowledge of networking concepts and iSCSI protocol.Basic knowledge & understanding of different types of Rubrik Backup failures, resolving them in collaboration with Rubrik support.Understanding of engaging Rubrik support and escalation on Rubrik issues.

Must Have

At least 05 years of Enterprise Backup (Rubrik preferred, Commvault, Data Protector) troubleshooting or Administration experienceNetwork fundamentalConcepts of Enterprise Backup solution: Job scheduling, automation, reporting, Backup Performance, Basic Backup failure troubleshooting.Understanding of Tape rotation and Tape management on Physical Tap Libraries in Backup environment.D2D and/or Physical Library Backup Products – StoreOnce, MSL Tape Libraries or equivalent.At least one Operating system3+ years doing enterprise technical support/Dev Ops, Troubleshooting including advanced issues such as snapshots, replication, data recovery, cloud deployments, networking, and vmware administrationMust have outstanding problem-solving skillsMust have good technical knowledge of vmware, linux, Kubernetes, Google cloud platform, Aws and azure. Office 365 api, database knowledge preferably MSQL, Scripting Knowledge (Python, Perl…)Automation skills, Micro services architectureSaaS systems, managing apps on cloudsKnowledge and hands on experience on cloud deployments.Willingness to learn and adapt to the entire technology stackShould be comfortable filing bugs and working with engineering to articulate problem scenarios for reproducing issues

Preferable:

Knowledge of Remote Support and Remote monitoring processes and conceptsTools Knowledge on Service NowITIL Certified.

Certifications:

Ideal candidate will be trained & certified in Rubrik (or any Enterprise Backup application). Additional understanding of Data Protector , Commvault or other enterprise backup software preferred

Technical Skills:

S/he will demonstrate an in depth understanding of several products in more than one functional area involving usage, configuration, and interaction with other products.

S/he must possess a balance of very well developed troubleshooting, technical communication and written skills along with extensive product knowledge and skills.

Candidate should have excellent technical communication skills both verbal and written.
