Why Join Us | DuPont Careers (https://careers.dupont.com/us/en/whyjoinus) DuPont’s Spruance, VA plant is looking to fill a Run Plant Engineer position to join our Nomex® line of business in the manufacturing technology group. Nomex® is a meta-aramid polymer with unique fire-retardant properties in addition to very strong thermal and chemical stability. This role is responsible for first level engineering support to a continuous manufacturing operation within Nomex®. This role will be heavily involved in daily and weekly production, both in process troubleshooting, escalation of gaps needing closure to meet area metrics, and initial scoping of process improvements (be it capability, technical, or product flow). The role is the first call for off hours process support and will work directly with senior MTs to develop deeper understanding of the process itself. The role will also be responsible for driving compliance to PSM, both in documentation and area performance. In addition, the role will be responsible for providing technical training and coaching to operations staff and be tasked with the process troubleshooting and, if applicable, understanding of analyzers and air monitors in the area critical to regulatory and safety compliance. Additional activities include: Provides engineering support for Root Cause Investigations (RCIs). Collaborates across Manufacturing Technology (MT), Operations, Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S), Research and Development (R&D), etc. Participates in Process Hazards Analysis (PHA). First contact in MT for process troubleshooting. Supports raw materials qualification or trials for new products. General RPE scope is to provide technical expertise in a technology area to manufacturing operations to maintain production performance or restore process capability. This role generally has most of the following qualities: + Entry-level professional with basic knowledge/limited experience in a discipline, performing standard tasks under significant supervision. + Has limited work experience and/or requires formal training in theories/concepts within own function. + Builds understanding of the organization, processes and customers. + Accountable for own contributions. + Develops competence by performing structured tasks or assignments. + Requires social skills to understand and interact with others on the team. + Receives significant instruction, guidance and direction from more senior level roles. + Uses prescribed guidelines to resolve standard problems **Qualifications:** + Bachelor's degree required, BS Engineering discipline preferred + Manufacturing experience preferred + Nomex® Line of business experience preferred but not required + Process Safety Management (High Hazard Process/Low Hazard Operation) experience preferred but not required **More Detailed Responsibilities:** + Provide daily process support to the operation for continued safe and necessary production in area of responsibility (this includes supporting off hours as needed). + Track area productivity metrics on daily, weekly, and monthly basis (OEE and Yield or similar). Own area performance targets with Improvement Engineer and Area Leader. + Identify area performance gaps and escalate (if not a process issue) or develop initial solutions (if process issue). Engage maintenance and senior MT resources as needed for scoping and help. + Continuously develop technical knowledge of area by routine interaction with senior MTs. + Lead at least 1 productivity improvement project (OEE, Yield, etc.) and 1 capability improvement project (operator or area understanding improvement). + Actively progress PSM compliance in area of responsibility and, if appropriate, lead lower level PSM element. This includes driving solvent exposure reduction programs and projects. + Applies knowledge of the Nomex® technology to define and implement solutions for PSM, Grow and Improve projects. + Participates in Process Hazards Analysis (PHAs). + Responsible for providing simple technical training and coaching to Operations including FLSs, TAs, and operators. + Provide required engineering support for Root Cause Investigations (RCI’s). + Supports raw material qualification or trials for new products. + Participates in Project Reviews where appropriate and participates in front end loading of capital projects where appropriate. + Collaborates across MT, Operations, EH&S, R&D, etc. + Aids in support for analyzers and air monitoring instruments critical to safety and regulatory compliance **Capabilities Required for this Role (Knowledge Skills & Abilities)** + Experience in a manufacturing environment + Bachelor of Science in Engineering discipline + Learning agility - A personal drive to learn, pivot when necessary, and adapt to the ever-changing needs of our company in the face of a changing world and customer base + Intellectual curiosity - Proactively investing time and energy into learning more and personally developing, in the interest of improving yourself and delivering better results Join our Talent Community (http://careers.dupont.com/us/en/jointalentcommunity) to stay connected with us!
