Position: Rx IT Calculation Application Support Team Leader

Mission:

 

ESSILORLUXOTTICA is the worldwide leading company in the vision lens and frame markets.

As a member of the Essilor Shared Services department and local representative of RX IT Digital Services department, the Calculation Application Support Engineer will assure a determining role in supporting, setting up, deploying and upgrading Calculation Application software and related components for all customers worldwide starting with DEO / GDP platforms and Export laboratories located in Fast Growing markets.

DEO – Digital External Offering – and Saturn v2 also called GDP (Global Digital Platform) are worldwide platforms proposed to ESSILOR laboratories as well as our external laboratories, allowing the remote calculation for lens products and production processes. Those homemade applications are very critical as they provide services to more than 450 entities with a constant increase in the volume of our prescription orders that requires setting up new calculation environments regularly. This activity includes creating new connections path for security accesses, setting up products databases, adapting statistics tools and ensuring good response time performance for the service delivered.

Those platforms are used by both manufacturing and Order Taking systems making its availability critical to answer the business of EssilorLuxottica 7 days per week. They are innovative systems based on the Cloud with automatic Scale up and Scale Out to manage the fluctuation of volumes of entering orders. Those platforms are receiving more than 700k orders per day.

The Calculation Application Support Engineer will report to the Rx IT Calculation Support Manager based in Lat Krabang, operating under his leadership for the day-to-day operational activities. The team is split between Bangkok and Manila in the Philippines with a total size of 15 people.

Management and project teams are in France and the support engineer will often be in contact with them.

Software enhancements are not under the Thailand team responsibilities, but into another ESSILOR’s department based in India.

 

Roles & Responsibilities:

Technical & Functional Support for Calculation Systems (software) (Level 3 ITIL)

Clients’ assistance and support on Calculation Systems Close relationship with our customers to get the knowledge of their specificities / processes Knowledge of the full list of components provided by GE, R&D, DBA and RxIT. Define solutions to resolve user problems and improve global efficiency. Use current ITIL process within ESSILOR IT Department to manage support activities. Continuous improvement to maintain performance and high availability of calculation solutions. Functional knowledge of prescription lenses and calculation behaviors Critical role to maintain the service on the platforms whatever happens

Implementation / Deployment

Performing pre-production setup and successful integration as well as Non-Regression Testing prior to implementing in production (Functional and / or Technical). Providing client assistance and support for upgrades or new implementations calculation software. Deploying new customer environments with implementation of Calculation System as well as providing Calculation support for all customers worldwide. Conducting User Training for new Services / Evolution in Asia as requested by customers. Improve daily operations of support activities by developing appropriate tools or scripts.

Projects

Projects participation in the development of New Digital Services as required. Evaluate system specifications to improve calculation software maintenance. Direct contact with Digital Services team in France (support and development team) / India or Philippines

Team Leader

Manage the team (Technical or Functional) to ensure their efficiency to answer the customers / tickets and to maintain the performance of the platforms Be able to manage remote teams (intercultural aspects, remote training and management) Distribute the workload and raise an alert to the management if it’s too high Participate to the team performance review and the skill matrix definition for each member Participate to the decision of promotions / salary increase or special bonus Folllow-up the need for training of the team Help in the research of newcomers and their integration in the team (in Bangkok or other sites as Manila) Be an active contributor with force of proposal in Team meetings or management meetings as well as our meetings with the customers Follow-up the wish of each member in term of growth and make things happen to let them evolve in their desired direction

Qualifications:

Bachelor of master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science or related field At least 5 years’ experience in IS support and maintenance, Business Analysis maintenance, System analysis or related fields. Ability to analyze and synthesize situations Ability to understand the business constraints Good communication skills, both written and verbal in English Maintains strong attention to detail in high-pressure situations Available for emergencies on-call support rotations with other team members Capacity of problem analysis, Capable of learning by himself/herself and self-motivated Good interpersonal skills, intercultural Intermediate Technical skill on IIS, XML, MS SQL DB, Amazon (Cloud Computing -AWS) Requires excellent computer skills and ability to use available technical tools Knowledge in Linux not mandatory but would be appreciated Knowledge in network configuration would be a plus Communication effectively Learning on the fly Customer oriented and good teamwork

Technical Skills:
