SA - Land Manager

SUMMARY OF ROLE:


Primary role of the Land Manager (“LM”) will be to oversee all Mainstream South Africa’s land acquisition, land portfolio management and associated stakeholder management activities during development, construction, and commercial operations.


What you will do:

Land acquisition:

Secure land for RE project development Negotiate and secure land agreements (i.e. Options, lease and servitude agreements) at competitive terms and in compliance with Mainstream Global Development Standard (“GDS”) Perform title deed searches and identify landowners for properties targeted for RE project development Preform reviews of existing land rights prior to contract finalisation (i.e. restrictive title condition, servitudes, etc.) Perform initial site suitability assessments in accordance with the GDS prior to contract finalisation


Land portfolio management:

Ensure overall compliance with all land agreements, including options, leases, servitude agreements, etc. Maintain land agreement records and data base (both hard copy and electronic format) Planning, implementation and maintenance of a land management system, including: Scheduling of land agreement milestones including expiry dates, payment dates, etc. Landowner information security Document all pertinent communications with landowners Perform ad hoc land agreement reviews


Stakeholder management:

Establish and maintain positive working relationships with all landowners Establish and maintain positive working relationships with all other land related stakeholders, including but not limited to consultants, legal counsel as well as local, provincial and national land and permitting authorities. Dealing with land related disputes or complaints from all stakeholders Effectively communicate (both written and verbal) with all stakeholders

 

General:

Assist all internal departments with land related queries during all project phases Be responsible for preparing land related reports or providing land related information during all bid submission processes Perform other duties as assigned from time to time


What we require:

Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Land and Property Development or related field with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in land acquisition, land portfolio and landowner management. Registered with a relevant statutory body is preferable.


PERSONAL SKILLS

Experience in: Land agreement negotiations, land portfolio and stakeholder management Land title searches (i.e. title deed and Windeed) Land related information data sets (Topographical maps, SG diagrams, etc) Land related legislation and contract law Land option, lease and servitude agreements Building and maintaining strong relationships with landowners, legal counsel and all other internal and external stakeholders. Strong interpersonal and stakeholder relationship skills Effective verbal and written communication skills and be comfortable presenting to all internal and external stakeholders Excellent Afrikaans language skills (speak, read, write) and proficiency English Self-motivated with the ability to effectively manage deadlines Committed team player with the ability to develop and maintain productive work relationships Strong organisational skills Problem and conflict solving abilities Proficiency working with Microsoft Office and other software products (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SP Online, Teams, Project, GIS, Google Earth, etc.) Relevant knowledge of and experience in the renewable industry (specifically Wind and solar PV) will be an advantage Valid Driver's License and good driving record Well-organized, self-motivated punctual, detail-oriented, enthusiastic and confident Ability and willingness to work effectively in a team environment and also independently. Ability to multi-task, prioritise, and meet reporting deadlines.
