Safety, Quality, Patient Experience (SQPE) Specialist I

The Safety, Quality, Patient Experience (SQPE) Specialist leads, consults and advances safety, quality and patient experience across a hospital or location. This caregiver coordinates and implements improvement initiatives, using the Cleveland Clinic Improvement Model and partners with clinical leadership to set objectives and key results. The SQPE Specialist models Cleveland Clinic core values and behavioral standards. Additionally, this caregiver coordinates with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure compliance with all standards and favorable performance on safety, quality, utilization and experience metrics and participates in engraining the safety, quality and experience requirements as outlined by regulatory and accreditation bodies. A caregiver in this role will have the opportunity to gain the experience necessary to grow into a leadership role. **A caregiver in this role works Monday-Friday, from 8 a.m. -- 5 p.m. This is a hybrid role, with the expectation that the caregiver will work 80% of the time on-site.** A caregiver who excels in this role, will: + Manage performance improvement regarding SQPE across a hospital location or assigned business units. + Act as an accountable partner and support for all clinical areas within their areas of responsibility. + Understand and implement elements of performance as outlined by regulations, bylaws, and rules and regulations established by the medical staff. Act as the primary resource for staff to facilitate overall operations of programs. + Develop meaningful quality assurance and improvement activities with clinical and operations leadership to establish when a deviation in standard practice has occurred. + Analyze performance data and participate in improvement strategy development. + Act as a consultant in educating and evaluating clinical and support department staff regarding quality management regulations and standards of care. + Support medical staff quality assurance activities such as peer review, ongoing professional practice evaluation, and focused professional practice evaluation. + Develop and assure processes to monitor performance, identify where intervention is needed and lead change to drive and sustain improvement. + Incorporate regulatory and accreditation standards into improvement activities around SQPE. + Support implementation of required plans such as the performance improvement plan, safety plan, infection control plan, and others as required by governance. + Incorporate enterprise priorities and regulatory requirements and benchmarks ensuring alignment to one standard of care. + Drive continuous improvement activity around quality, safety and patient experience priorities and coordinate improvement projects. + Facilitate dashboard reviews, data analysis and decision-making from data. + Support identification of root causes and action planning to lead to sustainable improvement. + Coordinate improvement projects to the desired key result. + Implement and reinforce best practices within and outside the organization. + Monitor and facilitate the adoption and sustainment of quality improvement. + Build relationships with project teams, medical staff and other clinical and non-clinical stakeholders, and sponsors. + Coach improvement teams to success with their quality improvement projects at the local level. + Participate in committees and meetings necessary to drive performance in the assigned scope of the role. + Report on medical errors and near misses, as well as corrective actions taken. + Analyze and report safety event data for trends to reinforce error prevention and high reliability. + Apply the Cleveland Clinic cause analysis process to identify key factors that lead to failures in SQPE. Apply common cause analysis identification to safety events. Minimum qualifications for the ideal caregiver include: + Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business, Engineering or related field + Five years of related experience with safety, quality, patient experience and performance improvement program or related healthcare experience + Previous experience in working with Joint Commission, HFAP, CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid) surveys process, preferably in a leadership/coordination role + Certified Patient Safety Professional (CPPS) within two years of hire + In-depth knowledge of patient safety best practices, joint commission standards and conditions of participation + Must represent clinical transformation in embodiment of Cleveland Clinic values. + Ability to engage senior management and apply critical thinking and decisive judgment. + Familiarity with basic statistical analysis, CI (Continuous Improvement) tools and change management techniques. + Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate at all organizational levels. Preferred qualifications for the ideal caregiver include: + Master's degree (can offset two years of related experience) + Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) can be accepted in lieu of CPPS + Registered Nurse + Preferred certifications: Healthcare Accreditation Certification Program (HACP) or Certified Joint Commission Professional (CJCP), Process Improvement Certification (Lean Six Sigma or other), Certified in Infection Control (CIC), Certified Patient Experience Professional (CPXP) Our caregivers continue to create the best outcomes for our patients across each of our facilities. Pay Range Minimum hourly: $27.65 Maximum hourly: $42.17 The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires.
