Safety Analyst
TelCom Construction is an established national underground utility contractor with growing market presence within the telecommunications industry. We are currently hiring an individual to fill our Safety Analyst role reporting to our Omaha, NE location. The Safety Analyst is responsible for the following areas of safety and compliance Department of Transportation (DOT) regulation compliance and education Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulation compliance and education Safety and Health policy monitoring, education, communication and PPE supply acquisition Industrial health (including policy recommendations, education and communication) Insurance claim assistance (including documentation and investigation) Actual job duties may include but also are not limited to the following Monitors OSHA safety and DOT policy compliance by both employees and subcontractors by conducting job site, field office, vehicle and equipment risk audits and inspections. Conducts, supports and documents accident investigations Assists with investigating and administering property and utility damage claims in a timely and professional manner Conducts near-miss investigations and makes recommendations based on findings Conducts weekly Safety and DOT new employee orientation (includes topics such as enclosed space, OSHA-10, competent person, DOT road tests, etc.) In conjunction with the EHS Manager, recommends, organizes and prepares materials and conducts ongoing safety, health and DOT education. This includes weekly Tool Box talks, annual safety training, first aid training, Field Audit training, etc as needed Manages inventory and distribution of safety equipment/PPE including tracking, calibration and repair of gas monitors Conducts quarterly building inspections for assigned locations Assists the EHS Manager when needed with audits initiated by regulatory entities In conjunction with Management and the Human Resources Department, prepares and executes employee-related documentation as needed Other duties as assigned Qualifications 3+ years of construction experience with a proven history of safety compliance, or 1 year of safety-specific position experience, or a combination of construction and safety experience Experience conducting training in group settings is preferred as conducting training in group settings is required DOT compliance experience strongly preferred Ability to read and interpret general business documents; operating and maintenance instructions; procedure manuals, and descriptions; and government regulations such as OSHA and DOT requirements Ability to clearly write reports and business correspondence Ability to adapt communication style and approach to effectively interact with individuals at all levels throughout the organization, subcontractors and vendors (both verbal and written) with diplomacy and tact.
