Safety and Mission Assurance Manager

The Safety and Mission Assurance Manager leads the safety, mission assurance, quality, and environmental programs for the Combined Operations, Services, Maintenance & Infrastructure Contract (COSMIC), supporting National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) facilities and tenants at John C. Stennis Space Center and Marshall Space Flight Center’s Michoud Assembly Facility (MAF). This manager leads a vital element of our program execution strategy across both sites, ensuring compliance with all laws, regulations and policies for the life of the program.

Responsibilities

Responsible for development, implementation and improvements to the AKS safety, quality, and environmental programs, plans, and policies.

Leads and manages a team of technical personnel to ensure regulations and standards are met.

Ensures compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.

Conducts safety, quality and environmental audits and assessments to identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.

Collaborates with internal teams and external partners to address environmental concerns and implement sustainable practices.

Provides training and guidance to staff on environmental compliance and safety procedures.

Monitors and reports on safety, quality and environmental performance metrics to senior management.

Drives continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, reliability, and efficiency.

Prepares and submits reports, documentation, and deliverables as required by the contract and regulatory agencies.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, safety management, or a related field.

At least 5 years of experience in safety management, mission assurance, or related fields, preferably in aerospace or similar high-reliability industries.

Strong knowledge of safety regulations, standards, and best practices (e.g., OSHA, NASA safety standards).

Experience with risk management methodologies and tools.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.

Proven leadership abilities with a track record of driving safety and mission assurance initiatives to successful outcomes.
