Summary You will serve as a SAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST in the Safety Department of STRATEGIC WEAPONS FACILITY PACIFIC. Responsibilities You will survey facilities, monitoring safe work methods used in Trident II Missile component processing, storage, assembly, renovation, modifications, and transportation. You will perform duties as safety Loading Officer (SLO) during all explosive and strategic weapons (TRIDENT II) and torpedo on-load and off-load operations at the Explosive Handling Wharf. You will be responsible for annual assessment, atmospheric testing, preparation of permits, mitigating hazards, monitoring, and supervising confined spaces at Strategic Weapons Facility, Pacific (SWFPAC). You will conduct risk assessments to recommend corrective action and hazard control measures for deficiencies to achieve compliance with regulatory requirements. You will perform scheduled and unscheduled safety and occupational health inspections, assessments, evaluations, and accident/incident investigations. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: evaluating the safety and occupational health measures to control or eliminate hazardous operating processes or environmental conditions within a weapons program. Education In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience: Successful completion of Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene) or a degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study form among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology OR Successful completion of three (3 )full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene) or a degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study form among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology OR Possession of LL.M., that is related to the position being filled OR A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
