The Rail division of Transdev, provides an integrated suite of railroad infrastructure maintenance, signaling, project oversight, and construction services to our clients, both freight and passenger rail.
The Safety and Training Manager ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and with company safety requirements. Responsible for continuous leadership, recruitment and training of operator candidates. Promotes strong leadership and influences positive employee morale throughout the location. The Safety and Training Manager will report directly to the Manager of Safety, and will assist in the oversight, implementation or revisions to safety and rules procedures and policies as well as other duties as directed by the General Manager. This position is based in Miami, FL, in supporting the RTA Maintenance of Way Rail Project.

Key Responsibilities
Ensure that all employees and sub-contractor employees comply with rules and regulations, enforce compliance with jobsite Roadway Worker, safety rules and applicable regulations.Oversight of SFRTA Operating and Safety Rules, as well as, other rules and policies under applicable federal regulations.Assist in new hire orientation, post-accident/incident investigations and remedial training as required. Ensure that railroad testing officers are compliant with minimum requirements for conducting the operational tests and inspections, as well as, all areas of compliance in a collective effort to reduce and eliminate incidents, accidents and infractions of rules policies and procedures. Employee training and mentoring.Assist SFRTA in aspects of public safety and rail security.Other projects and duties as required.Must be willing to work flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays when necessary.A minimum of three (3) days on the field, per week. Weekend duty rotation with safety and management staff.Travel requirement outside of immediate area (as a percent): <10%Qualifications
Minimum Education, Licensing, and Certifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Undergraduate degree in safety, business or engineering preferred.
Experience:
A minimum of 5 years railroad experience in the MOW field required or relevant transportation experience.Demonstrate a firm understanding of Roadway Worker and On-track safety procedures required by FRA.Valid Driver’s License required.Knowledge of SFRTA (or CSX) Operating and Safety Rules preferred.Knowledge of Federal Applicable Drug and Alcohol Regulations preferred.Knowledge of Roadway Worker Training, Operating Practices, Accident and Incident reporting, Hazard Communication, and OSHA standardsKnowledge of Test and Observation procedures for maintenance of way railroad employees preferred.Strong ability to utilize Microsoft Office software programs

Must pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check and driving record review.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, to lift objects weighing a minimum of 50 lbs and must have the ability to distinguish colors and to hear warning signals, radio and telephone devices.
On-call 24/7, 365 days a year, with allowances for vacations, sick leave, and related time off.
