Safety Business Partner

The Safety Business Partner is expected to establish and meet company objectives in the areas of health, safety, and regulatory compliance while exhibiting excellent leadership as the distribution center’s subject matter expert on health and safety related matters. This position is instrumental in reducing team member exposure to work related injuries and motor vehicle accidents. The Safety Business Partner is expected to uphold and comply with all company policies, safety programs, and regulatory compliance standards.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Build strong working relationships with Distribution Center leadership while building and maintaining a strong safety culture.

Actively participates in new hire safety orientation and safety training and education.

Ensures safety objectives and initiatives by conducting and documenting job safety analysis information and facility audits.

Drive team to meet company objectives in the areas of safety performance and compliance.

Leads facility safety committee meetings.

Participates in monthly corporate safety meetings. Provides updates on safety information and metrics.

Responsible for handling post-accident or near-miss investigations.

Manages safety incidents that result in injury or illness including but not limited to ensuring all necessary reports are completed, post-accident drug screen, proper communication with DC HRBP, site leadership, and corporate management teams.

Takes appropriate actions to correct any safety-related issues.

Utilizes root cause analysis to identify safety issues and implement appropriate solutions.

Communicates effectively to ensure safety-related concerns from team members are addressed.

Ensures facility is compliant with regulatory agency training programs, documents, and files.

Manages all powered industrial equipment safety-related programs and/or issues concerning team members, the equipment, and any vendors that arise.

Maintains communication with leadership personnel and operations staff on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis in pre-shift and post-break meetings, or other formal or informal group meetings.

Communicates, implements, and interprets safety policies and practices to ensure fair and consistent administration.

Monitors fleet safety driving behavior technology for site’s DOT regulated and DC City Counter drivers.

Conducts weekly and monthly safety audit and assessments.

Maintains current knowledge of federal, state, and local legislation and regulations

Manages waste chemical pour-off training and disposal for the DC.

SKILLS/EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/ABILITIES

Required: 

Minimum of 2 years of experience in EHS programs/regulatory compliance

Excellent verbal and written communication skills required

Ability to form, lead, motivate and direct a strong and effective team

Strong public speaking/presentation skills

Formal training experience

Innovative problem solver with the ability to take initiative

Proven knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA and state regulations

Desired: 

Four-year degree in EHS management or related degree field

Prior experience supervising EHS programs for a large distribution or warehousing facility

Experience in implementing corporate environmental program to include interaction with local, state, and national regulatory authorities

Project management experience
