Logan (CMHHIFL) is a 138-bed psychiatric facility located in Denver dedicated to meeting the community's needs by providing mental health treatment to the adult population in the metro area. CMHHFL is dedicated to providing Trauma Informed Care and promoting the implementation of Trauma Informed Practices within the organization. About the Unit: The Communications Department exists to provide professional support to the director and supervisory staff to meet the safety, security, and communication needs of all resident patients and staff within each department by performing administrative, technical, detail, and routine work. Provides critical communications in crisis situations (i.e., physical and verbal assaults against persons or property, suicidal behavior) and adheres to hospital policies and procedures in order to provide a safe and therapeutic work environment. CDHSCareers Description of Job About the position: This work unit exists to provide Safety and Communication services to the staff and client population at CMHHIFL. Executes emergency procedures for the Fort Logan Campus. Duties in this position include but are not limited to: Switchboard Operator: + Answers and directs incoming outside telephone calls to the appropriate person/unit, answers general questions regarding Fort Logan, and greets after-hours CMHHIFL visitors ensuring proper and courteous screening before permitting entry to CMHHIFL and its patient treatment areas. Dispatch: + Dispatches the Safety Officers using a police band radio for emergency and routine calls. Coordinates/initiates response to medical emergencies, tornadoes, bomb threats, and triage. Calls local law enforcement for serious or criminal offenses occurring on CMHHIFL grounds. Documentation / Briefing Staff at Shift Change: + Maintains a log of all Safety calls, medical staff calls, nursing supervisors, housekeeping, outgoing patient calls, Code blue alarms, Panic alarms, and Fire alarms occurring on shift. Passes information on at shift change. Receptionist: + Provides directions to CMHHIFL for outside callers. Greets visitors and routes them to the appropriate location. Receives deliverables (parcels, mailings) for CMHHIFL, notifies appropriate personnel of item received, and signs acknowledgment of receipt for the deliverable carrier as requested. Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights Minimum Qualifications: Two years (2) of administrative and clerical experience in medical, clinical, or office settings. OR A combination of related education and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to two (2) years Preferred Qualifications: + Administrative experience in a hospital setting and/or behavioral healthcare setting + Computer Skills including Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace Applications + Communications experience in customer service in a fast-paced work environment. + Work experience in a safety or security setting + Experience and knowledge of HIPAA rules Conditions of Employment: + Full background check required + Shift Work + Former State employees who were disciplinarily terminated or resigned in lieu of termination must (1) disclose that information on the application (2) provide an explanation why the prior termination or resignation should not disqualify the applicant from the current position, (3) provide the employee number from the applicant’s prior State employment.
