Safety Compliance Officer
Overview We are looking for a Compliance Officer to ensure that our operations and business transactions follow all relevant legal and internal rules. You will also review employees’ work and provide advice on compliance. To succeed in this role, you should be a reliable professional who is not afraid to speak their mind and stand by their decisions. You should be familiar with risk management and our industry’s standards. Your goal will be to ensure we operate in a legal and safe manner while meeting our business objectives. Responsibilities Manages the assigned projects as the point of contact, performing a variety of highly skilled duties such as managing multidisciplinary teams to drive the value proposition of the projects Develop and implement an effective legal compliance program Develop and implement a program to be rolled out to construction superintendents to ensure specific safety guidelines are followed and proper daily checks are carried out. Visit job sites on regular basis to audit, train, and ensure teams are following protocol. Create sound internal controls and monitor adherence to them Draft and revise company policies Proactively audit processes, practices and documents to identify weaknesses Evaluate business activities to assess compliance risk Collaborate with external auditors and HR when needed Set plans to manage a crisis or compliance violation Educate and train employees on regulations and industry practices Address employee concerns or questions on legal compliance Keep abreast of internal standards and business goals Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Safety Sciences, Environmental, Engineering, Business or other EHS-related discipline required Master’s degree in EHS-related discipline, Engineering or MBA preferred Minimum of 15 years of experience in EHS field with at least 5 years of experience leading an Safety Certification (i.e. Certified Safety Professional (CSP)) is desirable Multi-site and global experience are highly desirable English is required; Bilingual English / Spanish is desirable ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Work effectively in diverse team and fast paced environment. Ability to successfully manage multiple, competing priorities/task in a fast-paced work environment with high attention to detail. Strong communication skills, verbal and written, required. Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Strong organizational, time management skills. Able to meet short- and long-term deadlines. Must be flexible to work outside normal working hours and weekends as required. Ability to stand/sit for long periods of time entering data. Ability to lift and carry up to 5 lbs.
