The Job in a Nutshell:

 

Provide support to the Safety Department in the areas of environmental and occupational health, safety training, and risk management in compliance with all applicable Federal and State and local regulations. This individual reports to the Safety Manager and partners with department manager and director of Safety and Security in all aspects of safety for Natural Grocers including maintaining, monitoring, and implementing companywide safety programs and supporting a safety culture to minimize work-related accidents and injuries. This is not a remote work from home position.

Responsibilities

Main Ingredients:

 

Monitor and coordinate Safety program complianceMonitor and respond to site safety surveysMonitor inventory and facilitate distribution of safety supplies to sitesMaintain the safety data sheet archiveMonitor and respond to safety inquiries from stores via a managed mailbox.Conduct safety auditing via CCTV and digital documentationCreation of regular safety communications messagesIdentify trends and areas for safety program improvementCreate and maintain emergency maps and proceduresDelivery safety trainings and presentationsProactively monitor store communications, requests, and tickets for situations that may present safety risks.

Qualifications

Recipe for Success:

 

High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience is required2 years of office, retail experience, or safety experience preferred.Ability to prioritize and balance changing priorities with attention to detailStrong time management and organizational skillsAbility to adapt quickly to changeAbility to maintain a high level of confidentiality.Knowledge of grocery retail, production, and warehouse environments preferredOSHA 10 or 30-hour General Industry course completion preferred.Proficient in Microsoft Windows and Office Suite.Must have excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills

Physical Requirements:

Must have the ability to constantly lift or carry up to 10 lbs., frequently lift or carry 11-20 lbs., and occasionally lift or carry 21-50 lbs. Must also have the ability to occasionally lift or carry 51-100 lbs. with a team lift.Must have the ability to frequently push or pull up to 15 lbs. and occasionally push or pull 16-100 lbs. Must be able to occasionally use the computer for data entry and use of mouse.Must be able to constantly walk, stand, use fine motor manipulations, grip, bend, twist, turn, and reach outward for the duration of the work shift.Must be able to frequently to reach above chest.Must be able to occasionally sit, squat, kneel, and climb as needed.

 

Environmental Requirements:

Must be able to frequently work with sharp tools and equipment, dust, fumes, and congested worksite. Must be able to occasionally work with noise, cold, heat, wet, humid, outside, heights, and contact stress.
