Do you consider yourself to be a highly technical, strong communicator with the desire to work in a team environment on complex projects? Gilbane is seeking a Safety Director II to administer the safety program and serve as safety advisor for all job sites in the Division, holding divisional management accountable for safety compliance by the project team and all employees and subcontractors working at the sites. This role will sit primarily on the job site, with occasional travel to the office for trainings, meetings, etc.

Responsibilities Serve as a safety professional resource to project teams throughout the Division and oversee/ promote the successful implementation of the Gilbane Cares safety cultureSupport business development in responding to client safety pre-qualifications, Safety Presentations, etc.Before project award, work with operations & BD to provide recommendations for the Risk Analysis Form and safety staffing within the fee proposalDevelop and ensure distribution and understanding of Project specific safety plans for all new projects based on Safety Alignment AssessmentEnsure project teams understand Gilbane safety plans, playbooks, procedures, OSHA & other regulatory standardsUtilize SafetyNet to Audit and monitor project team implementation of the Safety PlanPerform at least 6 SafetyNet inspections/month with at least 100 observations each inspection.Coach & mentor project teams in effective hazard identification and correction of issues using SafetyNetAnalyze SafetyNet trending reports & share them with project teamsEnsure open SafetyNet items are closed timelyAssist teams with developing corrective action plansIdentify & provide for relevant training within Division (i.e. IIF, topical, Blocking & Tackling, Playbooks, etc.)Ensure that all incidents are investigated/ documented/ closed per Gilbane company policyRepresent Safety at all Division meetingsAnalyze leading and lagging indicators, advise/ provide direction to BU/ Division leadership on focus areas, trends and recommend corrective actions when neededAttend Peer Group meetings as directed by the Corporate Safety DirectorDevelop professional safety relationships internally/ externally and participate in industry peer meetings and/or professional organizationsProvide development, support and mentorship for BU Safety/ Project Safety Managers under Division oversightTrain and manage activities of Management Candidates (MC) assigned to SafetyParticipate in Performance reviews of project teams and management regarding safetyManage Gilbane internal Safety awards in DivisionAssist Corporate Legal and Risk Management in accident investigations and litigation as requiredRepresent Gilbane in regulatory appeals and settlementsAssist Area & Corporate Safety Directors with initiatives and requests for informationDevelop strategic safety programs and initiatives for Division & provide suggestions for corporate safety strategyRepresent Gilbane in industry outreach presentations and meetings Qualifications

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

Associate or Certified Safety Professional or Certified Industrial HygienistBS in Occupational Safety Management or Engineering15+ years of construction safety experienceOr equivalent combination of education and experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Expert knowledge of construction safety and health principles, techniques, methods, regulations, and interpretationsCapable of identifying current and future potential exposures and recommending corrective actionProficient computer skills and familiarity with the Microsoft Office suiteProficient written and verbal communication skillsProficient management, leadership, and interpersonal skillsCertified and authorized instructor by GU and OSHA to teach safety courses to employees and contractorsAbility to plan, direct and manage a safety program within a Division
