Safety Engineer

The Main Objective of this position  is Eliminate Risks. Ensure occupational health and safety for all employees, as well as the effective implementation of health and safety programs, policies and regulations. It should be the first contact point for health and safety issues.

Must Have Skills

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Mexican law , Industrial Hygiene , ergonomics & safety. • Experience in similar position / Minimum 3 years • Safety and Hygiene certification  • Advance English Level Knowledge Behaviors: Feedback, Conflict Management, Emotional intelligence, Team Work, sense of urgency.

 

Highly Desirable Skills

Industrial Hygiene Masters Degree  Extensive Health and Safety Experience Extensive knowledge of state/national OHS laws, ANSI,NOMS etc. Operational knowledge of corporate safety programs Certification or degree in OHS or related field

 

Education preference:

Industrial Hygiene Masters Degree  or certification Certification in  Mexican Regulation Advanced English

 

 

Other information:

Hermosillo plant works 3 shifts, if support is required outside of core hours, flexibility is required.

 

Competency or skills to be gained:

increased individual visibility because is a support area that works with Hermosillo plant, with another plants in Mexico and also Safety Corporate. Deep knowledge of Mexican Regulations, Safety Ford standards, Industrial Hygiene, team work and Continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

Be a subject matter expert, technical consultant and advisor in technical and non-technical safety topics and have extensive knowledge of local and national safety regulations. Health and Safety Support during: Planning, operation, repair and maintenance of facilities, machinery and equipment.  Specifications of safety requirements for new machinery and equipment,  processes and materials. Workplace design, organization and other ergonomic factors. Assessing work conditions and the corresponding evaluation of risks. Incident Reporting and Analysis: The Safety Professional is responsible for knowing the legislative requirements  for reporting injuries and illnesses at the facility. All health and safety incident reports are to be completed to meet the Ford Standard FAS08-020, "Incident  Investigation Process". Incident reports are to be continuously monitored for their  accuracy and quality.Periodically, all incidents shall be analyzed to determine the presence of trend  patterns within the facility. Appropriate corrective actions shall be taken to eliminate such trends. Training: The Safety Professional has oversight responsibility for health and safety related training programs. A formal orientation training program is in place to ensure that new supervisors, managers and employees/workers have the necessary information and skills to fulfill their health and safety responsibilities. Orientation requirements may vary in different regions or countries, based on local regulations. Determination of necessary health and safety training. Auditing: Periodic compliance audits shall be performed by the Safety Professional. These audits are to measure the degree of compliance to existing programs and standards. The results of the audits are to be shared with the appropriate personnel. Open concerns are to be tracked until they are completed. When government agencies conduct health and safety audits at a facility, communication on the progress and outcome of the audit must be forwarded to the appropriate division and corporate safety office. Refer to FAS08-115. Periodic self-assessments shall be conducted by the SOS Element Owners. The results of these self-assessments are to be shared with the appropriate personnel. Results also should be discussed at safety meetings involving the facility Leadership.
