Job Summary:
Bituminous Roadways, Inc. (BR) is a growing and established union highway/heavy contractor looking for a Safety Intern to join our team while finishing their degree/education program. This position will work directly with the Safety Manager and Safety Coordinator in maintaining and growing a positive safety culture and program throughout all aspects of the business. This internship offers a unique opportunity for professional growth while contributing to the overall safety culture within our organization.
Our main office is in Mendota Heights, MN. BR also has plant locations in Columbus, Inver Grove Heights, and Shakopee.
Job Responsibilities:
Help promote a culture that encourages safe behavior for all team members and reinforces the achievement of safety goals and objectives. Assist with the completion of new employee check-ins/orientation Distribute PPE to jobsites as needed Maintain SDS database Conduct risk assessments compliant with OSHA standards 1926 and 1910 Assist with the inspection of traffic management on site using online forms Inspect field jobsites to increase safety awareness around high-risk operations Other projects and duties as needed Assist with conducting post-incident root cause analysis

Proficient written and oral communications Conflict resolution and response Strong ability to work under pressure Building Trust & Rapport with all employees Able to spot high risk behavior Collaborate with other departmentsPreferred Qualifications:
Student status required, can be any level of formal education or technical program Construction, Safety, or Risk Management students preferred Experience with PowerPoint, Excel, and other common software’s Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and presentation Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 Strong self-awareness, interpersonal skills, and relationship-building abilities
