Position Summary
The Site Safety Lead will have dual roles in both safety and environmental. Their primary focus is on the identification and correction of hazards. They are not meant to be pulled into production roles as needed. They are expected to be visible and hands-on with safety/environmental tasks.

Health and Safety duties:Assist safety specialist with new hire orientation.Participate in the hiring process to ensure cultural fitConduct focused workplace exams weekly and address findings time - If able, personally correct the findingsOrganize and assist with daily tailgate and monthly safety meetingsAssist with task training for equipmentAssist the operation with safety-related tasks - E. housekeeping, maintenance, guarding, etc.Conduct plant and mobile equipment safety inspections.Work closely with the Plant Managers to help monitor, review, and address Hazard Recognition concernsAssist managers with retaining training documents.Participate and assist with the site safety committee - SSC will be led by hourly employee other than this positionParticipate in MSHA inspectionsParticipate and review SLAMOwnership of site safety alongside the safety committee and plant managementQuarterly review of safety binder. Environmental duties: Monthly ASTsQuarterly SWPP inspectionsWeekly/Bimonthly stormwater samplesMonthly compliance formsMonthly production/emission sheetsReport and correct spillsPeriod checks on spill containment kitsAssist with maintaining water truck log Ideal Candidate: Excellent interpersonal skills: communicates well, natural leader, respected/trusted within the work groupExcellent time management/self-management abilities: needs to be capable of developing their own day to day tasksTechnical Expertise in either Mobile Equipment Operation, Plant Operation or MaintenanceCapable of identifying hazards on site: Ability to correct them is a bonusIs a True-Believer in safety and has the right motivationsAbility to train one-on-one and in a larger ground Minimum Education and ExperienceHigh School Diploma and or GED1+ years of safety-related experience3-5 years of Mining experience requiredOHST or CHST certifications preferredStrong knowledge of MSHA Part 46 and OSHA 1910 and 1926Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Physical requirements include the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds from ground to waist, visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination, manual dexterity, repetitive motion, standing, sitting (must be able to sit for extended periods up to 8 hours), walking, climbing stairs, bending and stooping, and the ability to drive. Work may be performed in all weather conditions - heat, cold, wet or dry.  May have exposure to dust, sand, gravel, diesel exhaust, etc

Salary Posting:

We are excited to share the base range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00, exclusive of benefits or bonuses (discretionary and non-discretionary). The offered base hourly compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, business need, market conditions, proficiencies, skills, education, and experience. Additionally, at Martin Marietta we place a high value on internal pay equity and will consider the compensation for those in similarly situated roles and direct team members. The posted range for this role represents the total reasonable pay range and does not solely represent a hiring range. Therefore, hiring at the top or maximum of the range should not be expected as it would not allow for salary growth opportunities in the role, would diminish promotion value, and may not align with internal equity.
