Job Title: Safety Lead
Job Description

This full-time position involves providing services related to safety, health, work methods, and training. It includes extensive field visits with crews, identifying areas requiring training, conducting training in on-the-job settings or in other facilities, and evaluating performance in simulated and actual environments. The ideal candidate will have multiple years of experience and subject matter expertise related to training, safety, and quality control.

ResponsibilitiesVisit crews in the field to observe, train, and teach safety, quality, and work methods.Identify areas needing further focus and develop, schedule, and present training materials on those areas.Identify crews needing further training on safety, quality, and work methods, and work with the Area Supervisor to develop a plan to address crew deficiencies.Present Safety, Work Methods, and Quality Training Courses.Evaluate employee and driver performance.Conduct program-level audits of EHS programs.Recognize problems and respond systematically, gather information, sort through complex issues, seek input from others, address root causes, and communicate decisions.Lead through change and diversity, make tough calls when needed, build consensus, and motivate and encourage others.Provide feedback and coaching in a mentoring role, challenge and develop employees, accept mistakes, and provide visibility for growth and development.Target and achieve results, set challenging goals, prioritize tasks, overcome obstacles, and accept accountability.Communicate well both verbally and in writing, create accurate and punctual reports, deliver presentations, share information and ideas with others, and have good listening skills.Essential SkillsExperience in safety, construction, TLINE, distribution, and substation.CUSP Certification (preferred).Minimum of 3 years of verifiable safety experience.OSHA 500 or other accredited safety certifications such as CSP, ASP, OHS, CHST, CSST, or CSHO.Bachelor’s degree in a Safety related curriculum (preferred).Strong presentation skills for leading regular Safety Meetings and other trainings.Familiarity with quality assurance audits in the natural gas and public utility industry.Ability to identify and record proper and improper practices on a natural gas job site per audit metrics.Technical assistance with the investigation of accidents, incidents, injuries, and/or illnesses.Experience in coordinating and communicating information across company and department lines.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in the natural gas and public utility industry.Ability to provide technical assistance in investigations.Strong communication and presentation skills.Work Environment

Work is scattered throughout project sites in Texas. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical equipment, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is performed in outside weather conditions.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $128000.00 - $133000.00/yr.
