Hours: Monday – Friday 6am-6pm some nights and weekends required. Pay: $30.10 an hour Summary/Objective The safety lead is responsible for assisting safety and plant personnel with the daily safety and health tasks required to support plant operations compliance. This includes safety and health administration, training, auditing and monitoring for location safety and health compliance. This position will be based out of our Sand Plant in West Center Sand, NE and locations responsible for but not limited to list Des Moines Portable locations in Nebraska, North Valley Sand, Waterloo Sand, West Center Sand, and Dubois Quarry.Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Participate and as required lead new hire orientation for all plant and mine hourly employees.Conduct Part 46 and Part 48 training at assigned quarries and mines.Participate in local quarry and mine safety audits, track results, provide local leadership with continuous improvement options and follow up on all action items.Assist with location incident investigations.Assist with safety center administration on observations and near misses for all assigned locations. Participate in MSHA visits at assigned locations.Assist with the coordination of annual SOMA Industrial Hygiene assessments and training for all locations.Assist in identification, analysis, solution and control of occupational hazards requiring the application of hazard resolution.Ensures compliance with safety policies and procedures. Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assignedWork Environment This job operates 90% of the time in mining locations to include quarries, mines and remote offices. 10% of the time will be in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. This position regularly requires long hours and weekend work.Physical Demands Physical requirements include the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds from ground to waist, visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand eye coordination, manual dexterity, repetitive motion, standing, sitting (must be able to sit for extended periods of time up to 8 hours), walking, climbing stairs, bending and stooping, and the ability to drive.Travel Travel will be required at times primarily within the Division and assigned District. Out of area and overnight travel may be required.
