About this Role The Safety & Training Manger will assist division with planning and implementation of safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state and federal rules and regulations, including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Department of Transportation (DOT), reinforcing safety culture. What You'll Do + Inspect or evaluate workplace environments, equipment, or practices to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations + Inspect equipment and machinery to observe possible unsafe conditions + Ability to communicate clearly and effectively and maintain working relationships with employees, supervisory personnel, state and local officials, consultants and sub-contractors + Evaluate Safety, Health, and Environmental education and training programs + Support Corporate HSE or EHS Initiatives + Assist Safety Director and operations in the development and enhancement of HSE or EHS programs + Regularly visit job sites + Prepare written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective measures + Support operations in post incident investigation + Perform analysis and trending of HSE or EHS statistics and metrics to proactively monitor safety performance + Evaluate company HSE Program processes and procedures + Evaluate company Safety and Training Advisor, and provide critical feedback and coaching + Assist in develop training procedure manuals, guides, or course materials, such as handouts or visual materials + Identify training needs and training gaps + Provide support on sensitive/critical projects + Offer specific training programs to help workers maintain or improve job skills + Support Company HSE or EHS training to ensure it complies with state and federal regulation + Identify the educational needs of others, developing formal educational or training programs of classes, and teaching or instructing others + Monitor and assist in enforcement of DOT and FMCSA regulations to ensure compliance. + All other duties as assigned What You'll Bring + This individual will possess expertise in asset management, applicable transmission and distribution standards for electric utilities, and ethical work practices. + Thorough knowledge of environmental regulations as well as federal, state and local safety laws. + Minimum of 6+ years of experience in utility construction safety, hazard recognition, accident investigation, and root cause analysis. + Ability to form, lead, motivate, mentor, and direct a strong and effective team, with the ability to influence and drive a culture of safety and sustainability. + Ability to communicate across all levels of the organization, including executive management, as well as the ability to engage field employees.
