The Safety Manager is responsible for our safety policies and procedures and training schedules and will assist with developing and implementing best practices and procedures within the company that effectively control accident and health exposures and minimize OSHA citations.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide overall direction regarding safety for the overall company Provides in-person best practice recommendations and technical assistance for field personnel. Develops and maintains positive relationships and coordinate with field personnel, general contractors, subcontractors, and vendors. Conducts safety training or education programs and demonstrates the use of safety equipment. Conducts site visits and inspections to evaluate workplace environments, equipment, or practices to ensure compliance with company safety standards and applicable jobsite / OSHA construction industry regulations and standards. Works with Clients/GC’s/Site managers to correct site issues. Works with all parties involved to enforce compliance with regulations and reviewing health and safety guidelines to minimize injuries. Participates in the implementation of the company safety programs and standard operating procedures, as well as the enforcement of company safety tracking and reporting procedures. Responds to emergencies involving injury, incident, and near-miss events or situations involving significant jobsite hazards and prepares reports of findings while submitting recommendations. Coordinates recordable injuries, work-related injuries, major incidents, and insurance claims with Safety Admin Coordinator for tracking and reporting purposes. Manages Return to work/modified duty claims. Investigates and analyzes incidents to identify causes and determine how such accidents might be prevented in the future. (Root Cause Analysis) Recommends measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous site conditions, work methods, processes, or equipment and materials. Mentors field supervisors and project managers on safe work procedures, job site hazard assessments, and design safe workspaces. Revises, updates and maintains safety manual. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS

PREFERRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety or similar background with a comparable combination of relevant experience and education. 5+ years of experience in a professional safety role; proven successful experience as a construction safety manager preferred. Commercial Mechanical / HVAC Construction industry experience preferred. Certified Safety Professional (CSP). OSHA-30 certification. OSHA 500 certification or the ability to obtain the certification within the first 90 days of employment. Ability to obtain and maintain all (but not limited to) the following certifications: First Aid, CPR / AED, Rough Terrain Forklift, Aerial Lifts (includes Scissor Lift and Boom Lift), Fire Watch, Certified Rigger, and OSHA Permit-Required Confined Space Entry. Experience writing Health and Safety Plans (HASP’s) and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA’s). Deep understanding of occupational health and safety guidelines/regulations. Experience performing safety inspections ensuring compliance with OSHA. Experience evaluating hazards in a construction environment, controls, and monitor effectiveness. In-depth knowledge of the construction industry, federal, state, and city environmental and safety regulations and practices Ability to coordinate and deliver applicable safety training. Strong written / verbal skills with strong interpersonal skills. Must have a valid driver’s license Ability to travel as needed, which could include extended driving and minimal overnight stays. Available to work outside normal business hours when needed.COMPUTER SKILLS Must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, (i.e., Outlook, Word and Excel)REQUIRED ATTRIBUTES

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be to perform physical activities that require considerable use of limbs, and appendages such as climbing, lifting, reaching above shoulders, balancing, walking, stooping, crawling, bending, and kneeling. Ability to lift, move and handle an 80 lbs. of tools or material. Ability to climb and work from ladders, aerial lifts, or scaffolding. Ability to work in tight spaces or uneven terrain. Ability to work in environmental conditions that range from working outdoors during all seasons, indoor office environments, job sites, and utility plants.
