The Safety Manager supervises all safety efforts on a single large project with direct reports.
Responsibilities Supports all safety efforts on the project and promotes the Gilbane Cares safety cultureEnsures contractor activities are preplanned for safety through scope review, preconstruction meetings, JHA review, STAs, etc.Ensures contractors meet Gilbane safety submittal requirementsEnsures contractor compliance with Gilbane safety plan & expectationsMaintains all safety related documentationMakes recommendations concerning situations hazardous to employee safety or healthUtilizes SafetyNet to Audit and monitor project team implementation of the Safety PlanPerforms at least 15 SafetyNet inspections per month with at least 100 observations in each inspectionProvides and analyzes SafetyNet trending reports with project team and develops action plansCoaches project team in effective hazard identification and correction of issues using SafetyNetInvestigates all accidents/near misses and complete all paperwork requiredEnsures project teams have safety equipment and resourcesServes as project liaison and manages project correspondence with Insurance carriersProvides safety training to project teams on Gilbane, client, and OSHA requirementsTrains direct reports on processes, procedures, and completion of daily tasksManages workload and performance of direct reports, ensuring alignment with overall company standardsFosters a positive and inclusive work environment to motivate and engage team membersAids in communicating company and department strategy to direct reports QualificationsKEY COMPETENCIES

Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety Management or Engineering preferred4-5 years of construction safety management experienceBCSP credentialCertified and authorized instructor by GU and OSHA to teach safety courses to employees and contractorsOr equivalent combination of education and experienceKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Comprehensive knowledge of construction safety and health principles, techniques, methods, regulations, and interpretationsCapable of identifying current and future potential exposures and recommending corrective actionStrong computer skills and familiarity with the Microsoft Office suiteStrong written and verbal communication skillsDeveloping management and leadership skills
Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
For Albany, NY this ranges from $101,600.00 - $140,000.00 plus benefits and retirement program.
