POSITION PURPOSE:
The Safety Manager is responsible to implement the organization's Safety Program. Works with personnel throughout the organization to maintain a safe and healthy work environment for all of Umpqua Indian Development Corporation companies. Conducts periodic on-site facility audits and inspections to check for compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines, and Tribal Law, & Ordinance Codes. Investigates the root causes of accidents and prepares reports with the findings and corrective actions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Continue to develop and manage the Safety Program.Identify and implement policy requirements and enhancements.Conduct Safety Inspections Audits throughout all of UIDC’s properties.Mentors management teams to minimize employee and customer injuries.Partners with the Business and Insurance Claims Coordinator who will assist with safety and guest casualty operations.Required to fully comply with Tribal Worker’ Compensation Codes and Tribal Ordinances, UIDC rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operations of all properties.Provides and/ or facilitates safety and health training.Prepares and administers the safety training and incentive programs.Establishing Workplace Respiratory Safety Program.Serves as Safety Committee Chairperson.Provides recommendations for the Safety budget.Serves as liaison to Tribal Health & Wellness Center for Vaccination Program.Establishes contact with guests, to resolve health and safety complaints.Coordinates Light Duty Assignments.Liaison with regulatory agencies. RequirementsQUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Health and Safety, or related field experience.3-5 years Safety Management experience.Excellent organizational, verbal, interpersonal, and customer relation skills.Computer literate, able to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and various software training programs.Ability to conduct workplace ergonomic assessments.Knowledge of Federal OSHA standards and applications.Knowledge of Federal MDS record keeping requirements.Knowledge of local fire codes standpipe, sprinkler and interior fire alarm systems.Knowledge of Workplace Respiratory Safety Program.Knowledge and skill in the use of atmospheric detectors, pressure gauges, leak detectors, noise detectors, and instruments for measuring air and water flow.Ability to perform duties in confined spaces.Knowledge of building mechanical systems such as water distribution, stem supply, pressure reducing stations, and chiller and boiler operations.Current and valid Oregon Drivers License with the ability to qualify for the UIDC’s Drivers Program.Must have the ability to obtain a Class III Gaming License.
