The Safety Manager is responsible for providing all levels of supervision related to safety activities and promoting an effective Safety Program. This role enforces safe working practices and procedures on the job site and is accountable for the safety of all personnel on site. The Safety Manager will coordinate and implement site-specific rules and regulations and ensure that all information is accurate and up to date for each project.
Responsibilities
+ Conduct on-site safety surveys and Risk Register assessments prior to project commencement.
+ Provide guidance, assistance, and training to engineers and supervisors throughout the project.
+ Maintain records related to safety programs such as Site Safety Plans, accident reports, and OSHA 300 forms.
+ Conduct pre-job safety surveys with the Project Manager and Superintendent.
+ Accompany operational stakeholders on safety tours as requested.
+ Ensure all employees are properly instructed on Site Safety program requirements.
+ Assist Safety Managers and Supervisors in setting up safety training programs.
+ Conduct operational and project inspections to ensure conformance with the Site Safety Program.
+ Coordinate safety training activities for Construction Managers, Superintendents, and Foremen.
+ Establish a Safety Observation Card (SOC) program to track safety behaviors.
+ Determine project members best suited to take responsibility as Safety Managers/Supervisors.
+ Implement the Site Safety Plan and strengthen a culture of safety.
+ Review and approve daily risk permits.
+ Provide safety review of sub-contractor safety pre-qualification processes.
+ Establish weekly Safety Committee meetings with all responsible parties.
+ Lead by example with a sincere attitude toward working safely every day.
+ Inform PMs and Corporate Safety of high-level safety issues.
+ Maintain a daily log of contractor orientations in safety databases.
+ Review OSHA logs and EMR data, providing recommendations for high hazard contractors.
+ Communicate and promote safety through various interactions with the workforce.
+ Contribute to development and management of project risk assessments.
+ Administer and manage contractor supervisor onboarding orientation.
+ Assist in required monthly metric reports including injuries, training, and man-hours.
+ Assist site contacts with identifying, monitoring, and documenting safety observations.
+ Review and oversee compliance with contractor safety handbooks.
+ Attend daily DOR meetings and contribute safety information as needed.
+ Attend and contribute to daily contractor POND meetings and monthly toolbox talks.
+ Provide safety leadership for pre-construction planning meetings.
+ Audit and administer CMRP/PTW processes, communicating findings and improvement opportunities.
+ Contribute to incident investigations as needed.
+ Enforce all sections of the established Site Safety Program.
+ Advise company supervision of compliance and conditions requiring attention.
+ Perform all other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
+ Over 10 years of construction-related experience.
+ OSHA 30 Certified Trainer, capable of teaching OSHA 30 and approved to do so.
+ Recent experience in food manufacturing operations.
+ Demonstrated safety leadership.
+ Technical understanding of construction.
+ Experience in construction supervision or management.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience in high-stress environments.
+ Ability to manage contractors.
+ Proven relationship-building skills with plant personnel, including engineering, operations, plant management, and corporate construction.
Work Environment
This role operates within a heavy union environment in Allentown. The Safety Manager will work directly with hourly safety associates and corporate teams to learn specific safety standards for onboarding. The primary objective is to provide leadership to existing operational facilities on specific safety programs and expectations. The position is based within the plant, not in a trailer. The role includes GSA per diem, trips home packages, and mob/demob benefits.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $60.00/hr.
