Safety Manager

Cleaver Brooks Sales and Service is looking for a Safety Manager to join our team in Dallas, TX. The Safety Manager will evaluate the safety protocols followed on various job sites, organize safety training for employees and report problems to management. The ideal candidate will have experience in the construction industry (particularly industrial construction) and understand the specific safety issues inherent to construction sites. The job includes significant field work, so reliable transportation and a flexible schedule are a must.

Job Location: Dallas, TX

Essential functions:

Facilitate a Safety-First culture, where the safety of our employees is our top priority Effectively communicate with leadership, general managers, service managers and field teams to ensure aligned safety practices and behaviors are in place Own and manage DISA, ISNetworld, Avetta, Browz, software systems to ensure company compliance at all times. Must be proficient with all systems. Identify behaviors and implement safeguards to prevent serious-to-fatal injuries Ensure the organization is compliant with OSHA and other state, local or industry specific regulations and requirements, such as DOL, DOT, etc. Evolve and improve existing processes to collect data and analyze causes of accidents and generate timely and actionable reporting Improve and develop programs that ensure a safe workplace including: New Employee Safety Orientations Post-Incident/Near-Miss Root Cause Investigations Management of all workman’s compensation related incidents and reporting Classroom and Job Site Skill Training Emergency Preparedness Use of Protective & Fall Equipment Distraction less Driving Programs Implement initiatives to reduce and prevent accidents, occupational illnesses and exposure to long-term health hazards Conduct site safety audits. Work with general managers to mitigate hazards. Manage content and delivery of daily and weekly safety tailgate topics Serve as a valuable resource and mentor to General Managers & Safety Coordinators Establish EHS goals and analyze performance to measure against established goals Demonstrate and apply EHS regulations and Best Practices to drive continuous improvement Conduct a root cause analysis of every incident to determine lessons learned and share results with other divisions Collaborate with Project Managers to ensure that health and safety activities are incorporated effectively into project plans Additional duties as assigned

Basic Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree is preferred. Ten years’ experience in a similar construction/technical position may be substituted.

Experience: 

Minimum of 10+ years in an HSE role with 3+ years at a manager and/or director level Knowledge of OSHA and EPA standards with regard to construction Must carry all of the necessary HSE certifications (OSHA Approved Trainer, OSHA 10 and OSHA 30) CHST Certification preferred Ability to train, influence and motivate team members Flexibility to travel roughly 35% (within the U.S.) Handle changing priorities and use good judgment in stressful situation Prior experience in a leadership development training program Must be able to communicate via company-provided phone 24/7

Physical Skill & Effort: Work requires computer proficiency, moderate typing speed and a high data input accuracy level. Work involves fairly light and simple types of physical exertion.

Working Conditions and Hazards: The Safety Manager’s job is a salaried, management-level position, sometimes requiring additional hours to be worked in order to hit business objectives. This could result in evening and/or weekend work. Additionally, the Safety Manager role brings with it a wide array of working conditions, from working with challenging clients to harsh job site conditions. A successful Safety Manager will be flexible enough to meet any/all conditions or requirements necessary to meet the job’s demands. The Safety Manager must work based out of Dallas, TX, but will require travel.
