Overview Boyne Mountain Resort is seeking a Safety Manager to join our Mountain Operations team. This role is full-time and year-round. The Safety Manager is responsible for the direct leadership of the safety and security department, safety training and compliance for all Resort staff, and overall public safety. As a safety leader, this position will serve as the primary driver of safety initiatives and must remain current on applicable policies, procedures, rules, regulations, and standards. This role will be active in the daily operations of the resort and is expected to engage with the safety and security team, resort staff, and guests. In addition, this position will oversee parking operations, assist with airport and coordinate event security as needed. Responsibilities The Safety Manager's typical job functions include (but not limited to): Actively monitoring and supporting daily operations of the safety and security team Performing and/or coordinating department administrative tasks (hiring, scheduling, budgeting, training record maintenance) Develop Great People through proper training, active listening, timely coaching, and positive recognition Providing timely guidance to team members in support of safety Think Long-Term by creating and implementing policies & procedures to pro-actively mitigate risk/improve safety Striving for Excellence in Execution by engaging with staff to ensure brand standards are met or exceeded Performing routine inspections of all facilities and outlets with appropriate manager to educated and ensure compliance with company safety/MIOSHA standards. Ensuring mandatory MIOSHA notices and posters are properly displayed at all required workstations. Coordinating corrective action to ensure deficiencies are addressed in a timely manner Ensuring department compliance with all company policies and procedures (i.e. uniform, safety, financial) Ensuring safety/security staff remain up to date on resort offerings to support guest communication Maintaining and reviewing employee incident reports. Monitoring trends and take action to reduce incidents and improve safety awareness. Completing and posting OSHA 300 Log in compliance with standard Administering required safety programs (LOTO, BBP, HAZCOM) for the Resort in accordance MIOSHA. Assist Human Resources with the planning, conducting and review of all safety training programs/policies/procedures Assist the corporate risk management team with general liability, auto and workers’ compensation claims Assist other departments as requested during periods of high volume, to maximize guest experience Supervisory Duties Directly supervise up to 15 team members Qualifications Education and/or Experience Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school plus 2 years of experience in emergency services, safety, or risk management; OR 5 years of related experience in emergency services, safety, or risk management; or equivalent combination of education and experience. At least one year of supervisory experience. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Current Driver's License. Current CPR/AED certification First Aid certification, or higher. Challenge OEC course within one year of hire.
