Here’s what you can expect from Watco: + Award-winning culture recognized by Forbes and Newsweek + Competitive compensation and benefits (https://www.watco.com/benefits/) + Paid on-the-job training with peer trainers + Operations training at the Safe Performance Center (https://vimeo.com/895928733) in Birmingham, Alabama + Leadership and development programs offered through Watco University + Career advancement opportunities Region: Oklahoma Travel Requirements: A minimum of 50% of the time General Purpose The Manager of Safety (Rail) manages the division’s Quality Assurance Program and performs internal audits at the profit center levels to give safety a face in the field other than in a training role: frequently monitoring the status of measuring and testing certifications, personnel qualification certifications and training/testing documentation. + Must be a DSLE and certified locomotive engineer (or able to become one in 12 months) by the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA). A minimum of 3 plus years railroad experience. + This position will report to the VP and Director of Safety and will provide detailed reports to include action items of goals to be accomplished at each railroad to ensure rules compliance in the field. + A minimum of high school education or equivalent with supplemental training in the way of classes or seminars in quality management techniques. Candidate should possess strong analytical and communications skills both written and oral. + Writes procedures, as necessary. Train employees on the provisions of the QAP and participates in nonconformance root cause investigations, corrective action and monitoring the follow through for continuous improvement of quality and the elimination of safety non-conformances. Accompanies AAR, FRA, and customer auditors for QAP and special process certification audits. + This position will conduct planned and unplanned CFR 219, CFR 225, CFR 240 and CFR 242 audits at each property that he/she visits to ensure rule compliance and continue our safety culture change. + Attendance on all corporate/divisional safety calls will be mandatory as we discuss as a team all efficiency testing and every failure by railroad is revealed. + We will also use this position to audit check-rides, help in qualifying new team members and assist in collecting and the breakdown of downloads to address train handling issues before they become common practice in the field. + This position will maintain a hands-on approach to field training of rules compliance.
