Safety Officer
**UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital is hiring a full-time Safey Officer!** The Safety Officer will provide safety, security and fire safety related functions throughout the Institute on a daily basis. The incumbent will work 7:00 am to 3:00 pm. Shifts days will vary and will include weekends. * Sign on bonus up to $1,500! * **Responsibilities:** + Searches and Property Management: Conduct searches, maintain paperwork, manage property, and handle patient belongings according to policy. + Education and Competency: Meet mandatory education and annual competency requirements, including age-specific competencies. + Safety and Security Patrols: Conduct continuous safety, security, and fire safety patrols; document and report unsafe conditions and security violations. + Physical Restraint and Assistance: Perform physical restraint techniques to control violent patients, assist clinical staff with uncooperative patients, and provide escort services for patients, staff, and visitors. + Emergency Response: Administer assistance during fires, medical emergencies, disaster drills, and other crises; collaborate with law enforcement and medical authorities. + Professionalism and Communication: Maintain professionalism, including proper dress, radio communication, and service excellence; perform assignments as directed, including daily reviews of communications. + Training: Complete all mandatory and recommended training programs. + Incident Investigation: Investigate reports of incidents such as theft, suspicious activity, vandalism, and safety issues. + Alarm System Tests: Conduct tests of alarm systems and equipment, including fire extinguishers and security alarms. + Relief Coverage: Provide relief coverage for safety systems clerks and parking lot attendants. + High school diploma or equivalent. + 1 year experience in safety, security or related healthcare field preferred. + Equivalent experience considered. + May in the course of their duties be in rooms where medications are stored or may transport medications when they transport patients. + Transportation of medication is limited from one department to another. **Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:** Act 235 with Firearms OR Act 235 without Firearms - All officers hired without a valid Act 235 must complete the 235 certification within their first 6 months of hire or placement and have process completed within 9 months of hire. Must meet audio and visual standards outlined in Act 235 at time of hire. Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation certification required within 30 days of hire.
