Responsibilities Safety Professionals shall provide dedicated safety support for the work awarded within the contract Expectations for Safety Professionals include: The management of work practices and procedures that directly support the elimination of Serious injuries and Coordination of efforts to ensure compliance with all applicable rules and procedures. Orientation for all employees and subcontractors Any company or customer training requirements Coordinating and conducting field safety observations and subsequent corrective actions. Managing opportunities to improve work practices and Incident management and reporting Qualifications A minimum of five years' experience supporting or leading safety programs This experience can be outside of utility work or leading safety programs from other than utility or construction industries (i.e., experience in industries, trades, or businesses that have robust safety programs to protect workers and the public and at a minimum must meet federal, state, and local regulations). The experience can also be from other than a dedicated safety professional background (e.gi., Journeyman, Foreman, General Foreman, Instructors, personnel who are required to be knowledgeable of safety requirements and have the ability to recognize and mitigate workplace hazards, etc.). A minimum of two years' experience in the industry they are responsible for overseeing This experience must be in related field work in the industry they are responsible for overseeing in the specific work type they will be supporting and observing (i.e., for over-head and underground high voltage electrical work, Safety Professionals supporting distribution work should not be experienced in transmission work only). It is preferred that at least one Safety Professional have qualifications and credentials that directly relate to the work they are supporting (e.g., Safety Professionals supporting Vegetation Management operations should have safety certification for Vegetation Management for example, CTSP (or as specific to the industry).
