Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
One year of experience in safety inspection, education, or promotion.
Job Concepts
Function of Work:
To establish and maintain a comprehensive, agency-wide accident prevention and training program in accordance with accepted safety principles.
Level of Work:
Experienced.
Supervision Received:
General from an agency administrator.
Supervision Exercised:
None.
Location of Work:
May be used by all state agencies.
Job Distinctions:
Differs from related jobs by responsibility for establishing and maintaining an accident prevention and training program.
Examples of Work
Coordinates safety programs for a large institution/agency.
Reviews construction plans, sketches and drawings to ensure compliance with safety and fire codes.
Inspects state office buildings, equipment and job sites for compliance with safety and fire codes.
Conducts safety meetings for the agency to inform employees of the newest rules and procedures.
Notifies supervisors of procedural and safety hazards in their sections.
Investigates accidents and work-related injuries to determine causes and circumstances and to recommend remedial actions.
Prepares reports on investigations and inspections.
Acts as liaison between the agency and outside agencies concerning Workman's Compensation claims.
Establishes and conducts education and training programs for numerous and varying safety related job programs.
Develops policy as related to safety.
Compiles accident statistics and hazards data, records, trends, using computer programming and hazard abatement.
Acts as compliance officer in areas of ICF/MR regulations in all physical and fire hazard areas.
