Fort Loudoun Medical Center is equipped with a team of more than 200 doctors in more than 29 specialty areas. Our 87,000-square-foot hospital features advanced technology, including state-of-the-art Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Computerized Tomography (CT), Ultrasound, Diagnostic X-Rays and Women’s Imaging Services, as well as Nuclear Medicine technology unique to our surrounding counties. Position Summary:
The Safety Program Officer directs and implements facility safety programs in accordance with state, federal, and regulatory standards for the facility.

Responsibilities
+ Serves as Safety Consultant in proper operation of the Facility Fire Alarm and Access Control Systems.
+ Develops and facilitates all safety training programs, including orientation and continuing education.
+ Chairs and directs efforts of Safety Committee.
+ Coordinates safety information with committee functions and staff.
+ Develops, implements, and manages life safety management programs.
+ Develops, implements, and manage emergency preparedness programs.
+ Develops and implements policies and procedures per the Joint Commission guidelines and regulatory standards.
+ Serves as a Safety Consultant in directing and implementing appropriate Safety Programs for Fort Sanders Affiliates and Covenant Health.
+ Performs safety inspections per state and federal guidelines and prepare written documentation of inspections.
+ Investigates employee incidents/accidents and exposures, and document as per OSHA requirements.
+ Responsible for clerical duties to include documentation of regulatory compliance, policies and procedures, meeting minutes, safety investigations, and all forms of correspondence.
+ Oversee all aspects of hazardous materials and waste to meet local, state, and federal guidelines.
+ Develop and implement programs for FDA, OSHA, and EPA.
+ Provide departmental safety in-services as requested by management.
+ Attends Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) meetings and serves on the Greater Knoxville Emergency Planning Group.
+ Local travel required.
+ Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
Bachelor's degree required. An equivalent combination of post-secondary education and directly-applicable professional-level work experience may be accepted in lieu of the bachelor’s degree requirement.
Minimum Experience:
Must understand regulatory standards relating to health and environmental needs including all aspects of NFPA and the Life Safety Code. Excellent communication skills necessary to interact with all levels of hospital staff.
Licensure Requirement:
Employee must have a valid Tennessee driver’s license Class D and state mandated minimum insurance coverage. Driving record must meet Covenant Health minimum standards at the date of hire and throughout employment tenure.
