Safety Representative - Night Shift

Job Summary:

\r\n

Plan, direct, and implement occupational health and safety programs to ensure a positive, safe, healthy, and incident-free work environment. Implements, manages, and monitors safety programs, policies, and procedures that meet OSHA and other applicable requirements. Evaluates the organization's procedures, facilities, and equipment by conducting inspections to identify unsafe conditions and to implement safeguards and solutions. Ensures the organization complies with all current safety regulations and that all employees are aware of safety requirements and are prepared to follow safety procedures. Collects data and reports on all safety and accident events. Develops a proactive safety culture. Contributes to Operational productivity. Helps ensure plants profitability by managing risk and loss. Areas of specialty for this position, while having a general knowledge company-wide, will focus on compliance monitoring and reporting in all areas of the company.

Essential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities:

\r\n\r\nAssist in providing safety engineering management to include facility safety, behavioral safety, personal safety, and systems safety.\r\nConduct safety Training (New Employee Orientation, contractor orientation, LOTO, Confined Space Entry, Powered Industrial trucks safety, etc.)\r\nMonitor and provide guidance for departmental safety committee meetings.\r\nPerform job safety analysis on all positions.\r\nWorking understanding of the machinery used in manufacturing food processing.\r\nAbility to identify potential behavioral dangers associated with Departmental operations.\r\nVisible presence on the floor looking for non-compliance issues.\r\nCommunicate with area associates, supervisors, and managers on current safety and health issues observed.\r\nConduct Accident Investigations using a Root cause analysis.\r\nFollow up on open issues from inspections and associate round table meetings.\r\nInspect areas of plant for compliance with all federal, state, and local standards\r\nPromote safety culture through open communication and Star Site values.\r\nCommunicate with floor safety monitors on a daily basis.\r\nWork with the Health Services department on reviewing and investigating injuries.\r\nAudit Contractors who are working onsite\r\nAny other duties assigned by safety Manager or Emergency issues that might arise for the day.\r\nFacilitate associate safety and ergonomic round tables.\r\nAttend Production KPI’s to provide a safety presence.\r\nAssist in maintaining emergency response Equipment.\r\nConduct Comprehensive Wall to Wall Inspections\r\nAttend/Facilitate safety and Health Committee meetings.\r\nReview and update training material\r\nAssist in reviewing and updating safety policies and procedures for Facility.\r\nConduct and Review behavioral observation and hazard identification audits.\r\nConduct industrial hygiene sampling, i.e., atmospheric monitoring, noise mapping, etc.\r\nCalibrate and test Atmospheric monitoring equipment.\r\nMeet with Product Vendors to evaluate new safety products for use in the facility.\r\nRespond to emergency situations involving the usage and wearing of chemical protective clothing, respiratory protective equipment, and other required personal protective equipment. Must be able to maintain an effective seal with respiratory protective equipment at all times.\r\nAbility to conduct and document Job Safety Analysis\r\n\r\n

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

\r\n\r\nWorking knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, NEC, ANSI regulations\r\nVPP and Star Site implementation preferred.\r\n\r\n

Education & Experience: 

\r\n\r\nBS Degree in Occupational Safety, Health, Environmental Sciences or related scientific or technical field preferred\r\nMinimum 3 years of progressive environmental, industrial, health, and/or safety experience required.\r\n\r\n
