Job Description
The Safety Specialist will implement occupational health policies and procedures to promote and ensure effective safety operations. This position will report to the Safety Supervisor.
ResponsibilitiesEnsure compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules.Assist with the completion of required OSHA recordkeeping and reporting.Assist with the completion of all required training/orientation for both safety and environmental.Regularly conduct mandatory Safety and Health training.Conduct and provide oversight for accident/incident investigations and complete reports to be uploaded into the internal portal.Identify opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.Conduct safety inspections, observations, and audits to assess employee compliance with safety regulations and identify opportunities for improvement.Complete accident and incident investigations to identify root cause(s) and develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence.Travel for this position is mostly limited to the state of Ohio, with overnight stays approximately 50% annually.Essential SkillsAt least five years of occupational health and safety experience in an industrial environment.Extensive knowledge of current company safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to conduct training.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.Additional Skills & QualificationsExtensive knowledge in electrical transmission and distribution construction, preferred.Transmission and Distribution experience preferred but not required.CUSP/CSP certifications preferred not required.Bachelor’s degree in Health and Safety, Safety Engineering, Environmental Health, and/or professional certification (CSP, CUSP, etc.), preferred.Work EnvironmentWill be required to travel to regional safety sites, spanning from Canton to Marietta. Traveling will be 50% of the time. A company vehicle and card will be provided. The pay range for this position is $37.00 - $48.00
