**Safety Specialist - AdventHealth Orlando** **Location Address:** 601 EAST ROLLINS STREET, Orlando, 32803 **Work Hours/Shift:** + Full Time **You Will Be Responsible For:** + Actively participates in scheduled document review processes related to Policy, Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), Work Instructions, BARE Facts and Educational materials. + Contributes to the maintenance of safety reports, accident and incident investigations, and performance improvement data. + Assists in the coordination of safety activities and drills as well as actively participates in hospital evacuation training and decontamination exercises and emergency management drills. + Conducts training and safety rounds, performance and coordinates hazardous surveillance rounds and safety site inspections, and other inspections and audits to assure compliance with NFPA and other Environment of Care regulatory requirements. + Follows and enforces appropriate safety policies including the appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), handwashing, and hazardous chemical handling. Demonstrates understanding and adheres to Chemical Hygiene plan and Infection Control policies. Qualifications **What You Will Need:** + Associates degree in Science, Safety, Engineering, Emergency Management, Business or related field. + 5 years of experience working with agencies such as the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Det Norske Veritas (DNV), Joint Commission (JCAHO), etc. + HAZWOPER 40 Hour Course from an OSHA authorized education provider + Hospital Incident Command Center Training (HICS) from an approved education provider that follows the FEMA National Incident Management System (NIMS) Guidelines. + Bachelors degree in Safety or Emergency Management (Preferred) + 7 years experience in a healthcare setting (Preferred) + Safety related certification such as CSP, CHSP, CSM, CHCM, etc. (Preferred) + OSHA Manager certification (Preferred) + NIMS ICS 100, 200, 700 and 800 Certifications (Preferred) **Job Summary:** Under the direction of the System Safety Director, the Safety Specialist oversees, coordinates, and provides active input for life safety programs at AdventHealth. This oversight includes fire safety and prevention, educational venues, ICRA (Infection Control Risk Assessment) and ILSM (Interim Life Safety Measures) management, waste stream management, hazard surveillance, and construction procedures as they relate to life safety.
