Job Description
The Safety Specialist manages emergency response systems, supports safety management systems, and ensures compliance with security requirements. This role involves building relationships with municipal fire departments and collaborating with various teams to drive a safety culture and achieve an incident-free workplace.
ResponsibilitiesManage emergency response systems for fire, confined space rescue, and medical responses, including development, implementation, training, assessment, and continuous improvement of programs and policies.Collaborate with external partners to maintain a unified emergency response.Build relationships with municipal fire departments.Support spill drill coordination.Support the safety culture by aligning with the four B's – Believe, Behave, Belong, Become.Assist with safety management systems, safe work practices, training, assessments, and continuous improvement processes.Manage radio communication system, gas detection equipment, and safety data sheet database.Assist with industrial hygiene monitoring.Ensure compliance with the Maritime Transportation Security Act requirements.Support the security team at the terminal.Work effectively with coworkers by sharing ideas constructively, listening to and considering others' ideas, keeping commitments, and addressing problems constructively.Maintain high compliance with all policies and procedures and report concerns to management.Draft guidelines, processes, procedures, and other written documents.Lead special projects across business units as assigned.Essential SkillsFive or more years of progressive responsibility and experience in firefighting and confined space rescue, including high and low angle, patient packaging, and extrication.Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a relevant field preferred.Proven experience in understanding and applying safety policies and processes within an industrial environment.Experience in multi-tasking work projects.Knowledge of OSHA standards and Safe Work Practices.Experience in developing, delivering, and supporting training programs.Ability to uphold strict ethical standards, including integrity, objectivity, and confidentiality of sensitive information.Proficient Microsoft Office Suite skills, including editing, proofreading, and PowerPoint.Ability to maintain automated and manual record-keeping systems.Strong sense of team spirit and ability to transfer it to others.Ability to work independently.Ability to evaluate information and exercise good judgment in making decisions.Problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues in a timely manner.Interpersonal skills to maintain confidentiality and remain open to others’ ideas.Oral communication skills for clear and persuasive speaking in various situations.Written communication skills for editing work, presenting numerical data effectively, and interpreting written information.Planning and organizing skills to prioritize and plan work activities, use time efficiently, and develop realistic action plans.Quality control skills to demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness and monitor own work.Additional Skills & QualificationsProven experience in customer service and customer relations.Why Work Here?

Work Environment
The schedule is Monday through Thursday, working 10-hour days with a negotiable start time. The role requires being on call. The work environment includes the use of various safety equipment and technologies, adhering to strict safety and compliance standards.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $97000.00 - $129450.00/yr.
