Safety Specialist I - Industrial Hygienist

We are searching for a safety professional who wants to make an impact on the communities we serve by helping develop and implement Industrial Hygiene programs and initiatives. The position requires practical application of various Industrial Hygiene subject areas to run occupational health and safety concerns at our sites, including hydroelectric dams, powerplants, substations, parks, maintenance facilities and offices. You will be trusted to:

- Investigate health and safety related incidents.
- Lead medical surveillance program and coordinate screening events and follow ups.
- Participate in meetings with project managers, customers and contractors to provide guidance on industrial hygiene issues.
- Serve as subject matter expert in the following IH areas: Bloodborne Pathogens, Asbestos Management, Chemical Hygiene, Hazard Communication, Industrial Hygiene, Medical Surveillance, Mold & Indoor Air Quality, Hearing Conservation and Respiratory Protection.
- Support other Safety Services team members on projects inclusive of all Occupational Health and Safety subject areas.
- Conduct field assessments, inspections and samplings for various hazards to confirm compliance and identify the need for corrective actions.
- Interpret sampling data and prepare reports detailing regulatory requirements, sampling methodology, results, conclusions and recommendations.
- Identify the need for, and coordinate asbestos, lead and mold remediations/abatements in accordance with applicable regulations.
- Conduct trainings and give presentations on various occupational health and safety topics.

You qualify with:

- Four or more years of experience in administration of industrial safety and/or health programs, utility industry (mechanical and/or electrical), safety training or compliance including providing guidance, leadership or formal/informal instruction to staff, or other relevant experience.
- A degree(s) in industrial maintenance, instrumentation, controls, electrical systems, health and safety, education or relevant field may be substituted per LCRA guidelines for certain years of experience.  
- Driver's license

You are a great fit with:

- Experience with IH sampling/monitoring instrumentation and methodology, including air sampling pumps, air flow calibrators, noise dosimeters, sound level meters, 4-gas meters, bulk/surface sampling and IAQ sampling.
- Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS) asbestos inspector license.
- Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) mold assessment consultant license.
- Additional certifications, such as CSP, CIH or CHMM are encouraged.
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite.
- Experience with statistical analysis software such as SAS, SPSS, IHDataAnalyst, etc.
- Advanced oral and written communication skills.
