The Safety Specialist manages and administers existing policies and programs to ensure compliance with safety, health and environmental requirements. The position insures compliance with existing injury and accident prevention programs, develops cultural change initiatives, monitors compliance, conducts data analysis and recommends preventative actions. The Safety Specialist also provides support and guidance to leadership on new initiatives, projects, policy and safety processes.

\n\n\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\n\n\tEnsure appropriate and professional provision of Safety support to the Hub Leadership team to ensure safety compliance, incident prevention and safety culture development.\n\tEnsure full compliance with all the requirements of Safety Regulations as they apply and actively ensures continual improvement using the established systems and processes. \n\tTracks and analyses incident trends and communicates target specific recommendations for improved safety performance to Hub Leadership.\n\tHas oversight of Hub worker's compensation claims profile and provides updates to Leaders. Supports claims reviews.\n\tOversees job hazard analysis and provides support in developing safe operating procedures.\n\tLeads serious incident investigations to determine root cause and target procedural, instructional or equipment changes to prevent reoccurrence.\n\tEnsure suitable reporting processes are established and maintained in a timely and professional manner.\n\tEstablish and achieve meaningful and effective communications with all relevant parties, both internally and externally. Develop good working relationships with all relevant parties.\n\tFacilitate the Hub Safety Committee.\n\tDevelop and facilitate safety training.\n\tPromotes the DHL safety culture, values and Guiding Principles.\n\n\n\n\n

Skills & Qualifications:

\n\n\n\tMust possess leadership qualities. Seasoned professional, self-starting, analytical and energetic. \n\tMust display a confident demeanor always while always supporting DHL values and 4 Pillars:Motivated People, Great Service Quality, Loyal Customers, and Profitable Network.\n\tHold or working towards externally accredited safety certificate is desirable (e.g. ASP, CSP or equivalent)\n\tDHL or other transportation operations experience helpful.\n\tAdept at Microsoft Office package.\n\tExcellent communication and presentation skills\n\tMust take ownership for all safety related issues and have a “can do” and teamwork style.\n\tBS/BA in related discipline preferred and/or 5 years’ experience in Ops environment.\n\n\n\n\n
