We are seeking dedicated individuals to join us as full-time, on-site team members at our new, state-of-the-art factory located in the thriving city of DeSoto, Kansas. **Position Summary** : The Safety Specialist is responsible for the management and/or supervision of activities that are created to reduce the risk of accidents within the workplace. working closely with supervisors, top management, and employees within the organization to develop policies that always ensure the safety of workers. These policies may include safety reporting and documentation procedures, primary safety rules, and accident inquiry/investigation methods. Carrying out safety checks and inspections within the workplace to identify situations that are unsafe and/or hazardous in nature and act or recommend corrective measures to be taken to avoid accidents. The Specialist responsible for an organization’s safety will make sure that all forms of safety-related reports like training records, accident reports, and any other relevant workplace reports are well-documented. **Essential Duties:** + Intervenes in the case of unsafe activities or operations being carried out by employees within the workplace. + Develops the organization’s safety policies and procedures. + Carries out research with regards to regulatory requirements and best safety practices + Oversees and directs the entire process of accident investigation/analysis. + Responsible for keeping records of safety-related incidents and recommendation/administration of corrective measures. + Works hand-in-hand with company management to identify safety-related issues and also supervise adherence to safety rules. + Organizes safety training for staff of the organization on a regular basis. + Performs evaluation of safety policies, methods, and programs. + Promote a culture of safety, quality compliance, and continuous improvement throughout PECNA + Stay abreast of process and policy changes that effect PECNA employees and customers. + Collaborate with business leaders on individual team capability and skill development needs + Partner with cross-functional business partners across various departments including Recruiting, Talent Development, Productions, Information Systems, etc. + Interact and support with personnel at all organizational levels, both internal and external to the company. Work effectively and efficiently in both team-based and independent working environments to add value to the organization + Assist in the development of safety campaigns, slogans, best practices, etc. + Implement various Behavior Based Safety Programs to promote proactive solutions and culture change + Prepare reports and summaries for EHS management + Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by EHS leaders/management **Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements:** + To ensure the health and safety in the workplace and for the protection of our employees’, wearing PPE is a possibility and includes equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator. **_The foregoing description is not intended and should not be construed to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, skills and efforts or work conditions associated with the job. It is intended to be an accurate reflection of the general nature and level of the job._** **Qualifications: Requirements - Required and/or Preferred** **Education** + Basic/Required: A minimum of bachelor’s degree or technical training in any safety-related field. + Preferred: Education degree related to Occupational Health and Safety Management **Essential Qualifications** + He/she must have excellent communication skills to be able to clearly pass information concerning safety precautions to staff of the company. + Must have good interpersonal skills. + Must have coordinating abilities that are of the highest standards. + Must be a proven leader. That is to say that he/she must be able to display good leadership skills. + He/she must be always observant and proactive when it comes to issues related to workplace safety. + Must be willing and able to work as part of a team or even lead a team if the need arises. + A minimum of 2 years relevant work experience in a similar role + Must have the relevant safety certification that is needed for him/her to work as a safety coordinator. + Experience with Environmental, Health and Safety regulations and guidelines, including OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, ISO, and EPA + Skills in MS Office (Word, Power Point, Excel, Outlook) + Up to date on technological trends and willing to learn them, when applicable + Self-starter, with general instructions. Strong attention to detail. + Experience with Behavior Based Safety Programs, creating and implementing. + Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work in an extremely fast-paced and changing environment + Results orientated with the ability to plan and deliver against production goals + Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to give formal presentations to large groups and communicate successfully with all levels of employees and management + Resilient, self-motived and able to work well under pressure + Comfortable communicating/troubleshooting with all levels of the organization + Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.
