Safety Supervisor

Responsible for Safety Leadership on assigned shift.  Provide guidance and support to the facility regarding Poultry Safety and Health Programs and requirements. \n\n\n Essential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities\n\nProvides resources for Safety Committee meetings, activities.\nProvides references that aid in recognizing poultry processing hazards and provides examples of possible solutions.\nOversee the Training dept and employee training activities.\nReviews accidents and incidents occurring to employees. Ensures that root cause analysis is used in determining reasons for accidents. Instructs supervisors on the basics of root cause analysis. Will act as lead facilitator for all acute incident investigations.\nManagement of incident corrective actions through follow-up and cooperation of area supervisor. Coordinates and follows up with the Engineering and Maintenance departments to ensure that modifications/improvements are tracked, documented, and completed within established time frames.\nAssists in directing facility wide training topics and materials. Reviews on monthly basis for compliance with facility, corporate, regulatory compliance.\nAssists Complex Safety Manager in facility auditing program and follow-up programs. Ensures follow up and documentation of findings are completed within established frame frames.\nMaintains the plant Safety file plan in preparation for the annual corporate Safety audit.\nReviews and recommends continued training and education of employees in safe and efficient work methods.\nCollects, maintains, and reports safety KPI and Management Accountability Program metric information.\nEnsure that necessary PMs are generated and completed that address safety sensitive issues. Completes annual verification of all safety PMs in the system.\nEnsure that annual reviews of various policies, procedures, and forms are completed in support of the Complex Safety Manager and the Safety File Plan.\nCoordinate any IH testing that may be necessary in the facility to ensure compliance with applicable OSHA directives.\nEnsure ergonomic principals are used in projects/processes that affect facility employees.\nConducts ergonomic job analysis and identifies musculoskeletal hazards in the workplace after observing (and/or filming) how employees react to their equipment, workspace, and environment.\nConducts employee surveys to identify adverse health symptoms resulting from job hazards. Creates project lists/action item lists based upon items identified through survey.\nAssesses the suitability of products and systems for the capabilities and needs of the workers.\nAssist in design improvements to workstations or job methods to reduce or eliminate musculoskeletal hazards. Coordinates and follows up with the Engineering and Maintenance department to ensure that all modifications/improvements are tracked, documented, and completed within established time frames.\nConducts ergonomic research and performs statistical analysis of results. Is responsible for monthly and annual trend analysis for this site.\nTrains personnel in the basic considerations of ergonomic factors to improve awareness and encourage input from supervisors and workers alike. Trains supervision and management in advanced ergonomic principals and concepts.\nResponsible for all aspects of the Facility Suggestion Program.\nAll other tasks assigned by the Complex Safety Manager.\n\nEssential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities to serve as back up for Occ. Health (Medic/Nurse);\n\nPerform pre-employment drug screens and physical examinations.\nReview symptom surveys for new associates.\nEvaluate, assess, and treat job-related associate health issues.\nAssist with maintenance of all associate medical records and Workers Compensation records.\nConduct annual hearing examinations.\nAssist with scheduling other annual health screenings/events including blood drives, mobile mammography etc.\nAssist with maintenance of OSHA and Workers Compensation data.\nParticipate in safety- and health-related committees and meetings.\n\n Minimum Qualifications\n\nDegree in Environmental Health or Health and Safety, Engineering, Chemistry or related discipline, or equivalent experience and education.\nWorking knowledge of life-safety codes, OSHA and other regulatory agencies, WC laws and familiarity with occupational health.\nFamiliar with Process Safety Management (PSM) preferred.\nKnowledge of Ergonomics\nCPR/First Aid Certified\nBasic knowledge of Industrial Hygiene practices\n\n

Working Conditions:
Approximately 70% of this individual’s time will be spent in a manufacturing environment, which is cold and wet. Approximately 30% of the time will be spent in a controlled office environment.
