Safety Supervisor

Overview: The Safety Supervisor is responsible for supporting the safety and health processes within the localorganization. This individual will assist the safety manager in leading the safety and health effortswithin the plant. The position of Safety Supervisor reports directly to the Safety Manager and hasthe responsibility to assist in the implementation and evaluation of critical safety processes,programs, and procedures to achieve goals, objectives, and continuous improvement related tocompliance as well as injury reduction. Responsibilities / Duties + Monitor and maintain compliance with the requirements of federal & state OSHArequirements and applicable consensus standards. + Provide direct support to employees within the manufacturing environment with the abilityto perform activities such as, but not limited to: + climbing ladders and stairs + occasionally work in a hot environment + wear advanced PPE such as fall protection and respirators + Provide relevant content and subject matter expertise to support: + Required safety related training + Effective implementation of safety programs + The prevention of accidents + Support plant safety goals + Work in a team environment where responsibilities for injury/illness prevention,compliance assurance, safety auditing, incident investigation, and employee training areincumbent on both the leadership team and the individual. + Work with the management team and employees to instill a genuine culture of safetyawareness and responsibility across the organization. + Assist with employee engagement efforts including oversight of safety committees andthe company’s behavioral assessment process. + Serve as an active member of the Corporate EHS Team and serve as a subject matterexpert related to a specific regulatory requirement. + Assist with workers compensation management and the return to work program. Core Competencies + One to three years of occupational safety and health experience in industrial operations + Knowledgeable of federal, state (Louisiana) and local regulations as well as relevantconsensus standards (e.g., ANSI, NFPA). + Knowledge of Behavioral Safety Auditing techniques. + Incident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis education or experience. + Ability to coach and train employees. + Proficient with Microsoft Office (to include but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint,Outlook). + Strong organization skills, including attention to detail, ability to multi-task, and prioritizeprojects. + Iinterpersonal skills with the ability to resolve conflict and reach agreement with others. + Excellent written and verbal communication skills. + Ability to analyze data, draw conclusions, and make recommendations. Education Bachelor's degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field from an accrediteduniversity or college strongly preferred We are an equal opportunity employer.
