Safety is fundamental to the work we do at MnDOT. We are seeking talented individuals who want to apply their safety and health expertise and leadership skills to support the safety and wellbeing of the Metro District’s workforce.
This position is located at MnDOT Metro District headquarters in Roseville. The position is a combination of field and in office work with some flexibility to work a hybrid schedule. If working a hybrid schedule, the incumbent will be required to make a telework arrangement with their supervisor.
This position leads and directs the employee safety and health and injury management programs for MnDOT’s Metro District. This includes setting program goals, developing safety measures and strategies, and finding solutions to eliminate workplace hazards; overseeing the work of the safety staff at the district; supervising the development of safety and environmental training for employees; overseeing accident and injury management, investigation and resolution; overseeing the hazardous waste and emergency incident response program; and collaborating with safety and health staff across the agency.
**Minimum Qualifications**
Two (2) years of supervisory experience for a safety, industrial hygiene, or occupational health program **OR Three (3) years of advanced professional (10L or higher) experience** for a safety, industrial hygiene, or occupational health program.
Experience must demonstrate:
+ Experience with Occupational Safety and Health standards, rules, and regulations sufficient to oversee safety programs and create and implement agency safety training
+ Experience with Federal DOT Hazardous Material Regulations, hazardous materials management, and handling/storage of hazardous products
+ Experience identifying and analyzing occupational safety and health issues and developing and implementing solutions
+ Ability to lead, motivate, and persuade other professionals to complete assigned tasks.
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Supervisory experience and/or experience providing lead work direction to other staff
+ Bachelor's or higher-level degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, (or closely related field)
+ Experience compiling and completing required safety reporting in compliance with federal, state, and/or organizational reporting requirements
+ Experience developing and leading safety related training.
