POSITION SUMMARY:

The Safety Trainee will be part of a one-year rotational program that allows you the ability to gain hands-on safety experience throughout multiple industries and jobsites within the Quanta family of companies. In this position, you will learn the basic principles of the industry and its applicable safety requirements, skills of effective safety management, and communication and relationship building behaviors with the goal of becoming a Safety Coordinator at one of our Operating Units (OpUs). You will be assigned to 2 different Quanta Services’ OpUs, in 2 different utility construction industries, throughout the one-year program. Rotations at each OpU will last 6 months and include training, field work, and networking opportunities. In addition, you will be expected to participate in daily safety activities to enhance your professional safety skills while at the OpUs. Joining the Quanta family as a Safety Coordinator Trainee is an exciting avenue for strategic, early-career individuals to gain experience in the utility construction industry in preparation for future safety leadership roles throughout Quanta.

What You'll Do Visit job sites and inspect work areas and equipment to ensure compliance with company, state, and federal safety, health, and environmental policies and regulations.Receive extensive safety, health, and environmental training, including classroom instruction and on-the-job learning opportunities.Assist with development, implementation, and updating of required written safety, health, and environmental programs and plans.Coordinate, plan, and facilitate safety, health, and environmental training.Conduct risk assessments, maintain documentation, and review as neededHelp develop controls for identified hazards and coordinate the implementation of controls from result of hazard analysisMaintain safety documentation including written programs, SDS’s, audits, training, incidents, and many others.Review incident investigation reports and participate in the incident investigation process as needed.Perform analysis and trending of safety statistics and metrics to proactively monitor safety performance.Plans, schedules, and executes other safety related projects.Adheres to internal standards, policies, and procedures.Performs other duties as assigned. What You'll Bring

Preferred Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health or equivalent.First Aid/CPR/AED trainingCertified in OSHA 10 or 30 hour

 

Required Experience:

0 – 5 years experience in related fieldStrong written and verbal communication skillsStrong organizational and interpersonal skillsProficient with MS Office programs (Excel, PowerPoint, & Word)Team player and able to build and maintain relationships both internal and externalFlexible to change and open to constructive feedbackAble to work independently with minimal supervision

 

Licenses/Certifications

None required, Graduate Safety Practitioner certification preferred
