The Safety Manager ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. We hire individuals who make Safety and customer service their top priorities. (DOE) Directly manage the road supervisors' job duties and work product, including delegating the promotion of safety policies and procedures.Respond to and investigate accidents/incidents, including taking photos of accident/incident scenes, interviewing involved parties, assisting with police reports, conducting root cause analysis, and taking effective action to mitigate future risks.Conduct evaluations and inspections for potential risk of loss. Coordinates the activities of workers' compensation, general liability, and vehicle liability insurance carriers and insurance consultants as they affect safety and loss control. Monitors activities and makes recommendations to the General Manager to help limit loss.Assures that safety inspections are properly scheduled, carried out, monitored, acted upon, and documented.Coordinates and ensures substance abuse testing program compliance using Federal and Company standards.Works with the General Manager as necessary to develop and administer local safety programs.Maintains personnel and qualification files pertaining to training, safety and loss matters.Coordinates, and/or facilitates safety training programs.Conduct operator and other new-hire classroom instruction.Develop hourly safety messages from dispatch to operators, emphasizing correcting current unsafe behavior trends.Qualifications Ability to develop and implement a safety and training department.Possess a valid California CDL B w/passenger endorsement.Knowledge of federal and state rules and regulations regarding safety and environmental issuesComputer literate with working knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPointAbility to effectively prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.Good verbal, written, and relational communication skills, with the ability to appropriately interact with employees of all levels, including drivers, customers, senior management, client representatives, union officials, and the general public.Subject to DOT drug testing.
