Salad Prep Cook (FT- 0.9 FTE, Day Shift)
Position Summary: The Salad Prep Cook at Bozeman Health Deaconess Hospital participates as a member of the food production staff to prepare and serve a culinary experience to our patients, staff, and visitors. This position is responsible for preparing high-quality salads, dressings, and ingredients for the creation of compound salads and various dishes for patients and cafeteria customers. The Salad Prep Cook provides support for the smooth operation of our kitchen specifically in the areas of slicing and some light cooking tasks. This role requires precision, efficiency, and the ability to work in a fast-paced team-oriented environment. Minimum Qualifications: Required + High school diploma or Equivalent. + ServSafe Certification within six (6) months of start date Preferred + Six (6) months of work experience as a prep / line cook + Six (6) months of experience working in a high-volume commercial kitchen Essential Job Functions: In addition to the essential functions of the job listed below, employees must have on-time completion of all required education as assigned per DNV requirements, Bozeman Health policy, and other registry requirements. Development: + Participates in production team meetings, menu, and recipe development. + Meets all competency assessment performance criteria within two (2) months of hire. Food Preparation: + Prepares vegetables, fruits, meats, and other ingredients according to recipes and portion sizes. This includes slicing, dicing, chopping, and marinating. + Assembles salads and other cold dishes with accuracy and attention to presentation standards. + Prepares salad dressings and sauces according to established recipes, ensuring consistency in flavor and quality. Stock Management: + Monitors and manages ingredient inventory levels to ensure freshness and minimize waste. + Monitors and keeps salad bar at appropriate par levels throughout each shift. + Ensures proper storage, labeling, rotating and stocking of food and non-food items. Sanitation and Hygiene: + Clears, cleans, and sanitizes tables. + Maintains, cleans, and sanitizes work stations. + Cleans and sanitizes dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and other containers and returns to appropriate location in the kitchen area. + Adheres to food safety and sanitation guidelines and regulations to ensure quality food service. Collaboration and Team Work: + Participates in and supports a positive team work environment. + Works closely with other staff to coordinate food preparation and ensure timely delivery of orders. + Supports the Nutrition Services team by training to perform additional duties that may include but are not limited to dishwashing, cleaning, stocking supplies, and organizing storage and work areas. At any time during a work shift, the employee may be assigned to perform other duties in order to meet patient, customer, and department needs.
