Sales Assistant - Barista
Summary This position is located within Mid-Atlantic Region, Support Services Program, Morale Welfare and Recreation Department, The purpose of this position is to perform customer sales, inventory and record-keeping, primarily working as a Barista. Responsibilities This position may perform all or some of the following duties as assigned: Greets customers, rings up sales for merchandise, answers phone and checks ID cards to ensure only authorized patrons utilize the program. Answers questions in regards to hours of operation, upcoming events, special events, merchandise availability and cost. Operates a cash register, ringing sales and providing correct change to the customer. At end of shift, completes the Daily Activity Report (DAR), ensures all cash handling/reporting/security requirements are met, verifies the amount of money collected and drops the cashier bag into the drop safe. Ensures the proper preparation and display of merchandise. Receives merchandise from storage area. Inventories and verifies shipments and stock items in accordance with established stock location procedures. Continually observes quantities of stock, and replenishes as necessary to maintain established levels. Rearranges stock and displays to accommodate new, seasonal or fast moving items. Maintains sales and storage areas in a neat, orderly condition at all times. Performs basic cleaning duties to maintain a constant and clean working area and ensures all current sanitation requirements are followed and maintained. Vacuums carpeted areas; washes walls, windows, blinds and other surfaces and replaces light bulbs as needed. Maintains restroom ensuring they are clean, orderly and sanitary, disinfects and deodorizes lavatories, urinals and toilet bowls. Replenishes bathroom tissue, hand towels and soap. Notifies supervisor when cleaning supplies are needed and reports all equipment malfunctions to supervisor for corrective action. As directed, assists with inventory of merchandise. Prepares and serves a variety of hot and cold beverages and limited food items such as Danish, bagels, breakfast sandwiches, etc., Responsible for the sales of tickets. Performs other related duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Resumes must include information which demonstrates experience and knowledge, skills, and ability (KSAs) as they relate to this position. Applicants are encouraged to be clear and specific when describing their experience level and KSAs. A qualified candidate must possess: Experience working as a barista preparing hot and cold beverages. Must have the ability to understand and carry out basic verbal and written instructions. Knowledge of basic arithmetic to compute charges, make change accurately and prepare reports. Must be a mature individual and be skilled in customer service techniques, tact and good judgment. Education This position does not have a positive education requirement. Additional Information Salary is dependent on experience and/or education.
