Sales Backoffice Lead

We are currently looking for a Sales Backoffice Lead to join us at our facility in Asturias, Spain.

The Sales Support Leader oversees a team providing critical administrative support between sales managers, field sales reps, and customer service teams, ensuring exceptional service for distributors and importers in the EMEA region. This role focuses on team management (80%) and strategic improvement projects (20%) to drive customer satisfaction, team productivity, and development. The position and team are based in Asturias.

Key responsibilities:

Define and assign customer portfolios to Backoffice employees based on their skills and experience, ensuring alignment with customer needs and workload balance. Coordinate vacation and backup planning for the team.Act as a liaison between sales, supply chain, logistics, manufacturing, credit departments, and customers, managing escalated issues and providing calm, effective leadership during challenging situations.Ensure compliance with regulations, documentation requirements, and internal control policies, including adherence to governing business guidelines.Coach and mentor Backoffice employees to develop in-depth customer knowledge. Identify training needs, execute training plans, and enable skill-building opportunities for the team.Monitor and analyze team performance against targets, take cross-departmental actions to address gaps, and implement process improvements to enhance group productivity. Assign and mentor improvement projects.Drive team results by setting objectives aligned with business directives, managing recruitment processes, and conducting performance evaluations for team members.Oversee team adherence to quality systems (e.g., ISO) and perform audits for compliance, including internal and external audits (e.g., PWC ME Closings, SOX, ISO, and customer audits).Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g., technicians, product management, sales, supply chain specialists, HR consultants) and external parties (e.g., customers, temp agencies, job candidates) to meet commitments and maintain service standards.

Key requirements:

Education & Knowledge: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with advanced knowledge of Axalta products/services for distribution and operations, and familiarity with quality systems (ISO, amongst others).Functional Expertise: Experience in internal sales, back-office operations, managing customer segmentation, and ensuring adherence to procedures with a disciplined approach to quality and performance improvement.Technical Skills: Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with strong knowledge of SAP systems.Language Proficiency: Fluency in the local language and excellent written and verbal English skills; additional language knowledge is an asset.Interpersonal & Leadership Skills: Strong networking, leadership, and conflict management abilities, with excellent interpersonal and active listening skills.Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication, presentation, and coaching abilities to build relationships and manage diverse teams.Organizational & Analytical Skills: Strong planning, problem-solving, and analytical mindset, with stress tolerance to manage multiple complex tasks under high pressure.Business Competencies: Demonstrated ability in decision-making, driving results, championing change, and aligning with business priorities, including KPI monitoring and continuous improvement.
